I liked it because it was entertaining. I couldn't possibly care any less who made it or who starred in it. There was nothing "to get" about the movie. You either saw it for what it was, an over-the-top tribute to the genre with a great deal of wit, or you missed the entire point of the movie...
There never will be the downfall of society. The economy may get much worse and many more people considered poor, the US may even become close to a third world country, but society has always been about the wealthy and the US is too big and generally too wealthy to fall into complete despair...
It's the latest, greatest form of flagellation. Me, I prefer the original: a few strokes from a short, studded whip to the back. A few salted gauze strips and a clean shirt afterwards and I'm good to go.
How can you say steak is bad, but then claim to like lunchmeat? Lunchmeat is everything left over that you wouldn't normally eat, not to mention that it's usually loaded with chemicals.
