Is it worth the trouble to upgrade to Windows XP from Windows ME?

Hi, I used to run Windows 2000, but I had to sacrifice and run WIndows ME, because the SPDIF passthru is not working in WIn2K and I need that SPDIF for my speakers. Anyways, I take it that SPDIF and most games run on WIndows XP? Is it worth upgrading from ME to XP? And , if so, would you...

Scratchy noise from SB Live 5.1/KK266/Logitech Mouse?

I did all that way way before hehehe :)... I didn't pray though; maybe that's what's lacking!

Scratchy noise from SB Live 5.1/KK266/Logitech Mouse?

The thing is, when I first installed all these, I didn't notice them too! Also, there's no crackling sounds when playing games, or movies (or maybe I just haven't noticed them?). Also, when I disable all EAX effects in Playcenter2, it seems to solve the scratchy noises when moving the mouse...

I haven't posted here in a while :) It's been bothering me for some time, but it seems sometimes when I use my mouse (ie move it around), I get "scratchy" sounds if I am playing a song or using the PLaycenter2, but sometimes I don't hear these "scratchy" noises. I use a Logitech Optical mouse...

bin Laden's fate?

When the US apprehends and extradites Osama bin Laden, or let's say S. Hussein, if this is the case, and if they're still alive by then, would he/they be tried by a civilian court or by court martial? I am asking this in light of the US President's statement that this tragedy is an act of war...

Just curious: What is the difference/s between the "General Hardware" forum and the "Peripherals" forum?

Just curious: What is the difference/s between the "General Hardware" forum and the "Peripherals" forum?

Im just curious. There are a lot of common posts (common in topic, like soundcards for example) between those two forums. If i'm not mistaken, isn't the basic concept of "Peripherals" hardware which are attached externally to the PC (ie, monitor, speakers, printers, etc)?

UPS recommendation...

Are "Opti" brand UPS units any good? I was thinking of getting a 525VA Opti UPS instead of a 500VA APC UPS...Well, what do you think? Laters

Sound-proofing a room?

I don't think filling-in the walls with Blow-in is possible in my situation because the room has concrete walls :) But thanks for ideas guys!

Sound-proofing a room?

Hmmm...I get annoyed of noises from outside when I am playing a game or watching a movie...so I'm thinking, is there any inexpensive way to sound proof a room? Any suggestions on how to confine sound within the room, and prevent external sound from going in? Of course, I can't expect perfect...

Yoshi is correct. You shouldn't have to adjust the brightness from the monitor itself. Almost all popular games have their own software brightness controls within the game (usually called "gamma", too) that keep the settings even after you exit the game. This way, your desktop will be...

Is this non-ammonia windsheild cleaner safe for my moniter?

To be on the safe side, I just use distilled water and wipe with lint-free cloth :)

Is there a way to unlock the multiplyer on 400mh celeron?

Unfortunately for the overclocker, there is no way to unlock the multiplier in Intel processors..
