C2D build for moderate overclocking. Advice?

I'd heard the opposite, but the claims were unsubstantiated. Anyone else?

C2D build for moderate overclocking. Advice?

If I could get the e6400 and e4300 for the same price, which should I get (right now)? Should I expect a large difference in max overclock? If everything else is equal, I'd probably go with the e6400 ... the VT stuff isn't really used now, but it could be cool if it ever is.

It seems both can be had for about the same price ... is there a clear winner? I'm wanting to stick with these smaller hsf's so I won't need to be concerned about moving the case around a lot. I intend to overclock with an e6400 or e4300.

PSU recommendation

From what I've gathered lately, the following PSUs give good performance for price in their range. I know everyone will say I'd be better off buying one of the high-end Corsair PSU's, but I don't really have the money to spend on it. So, which of these (or another in the $50-70 range) would...

Thanks gerwen. In that case, for just $15 more than the cheapest ddr800 2gb kit available, I think we'll probably go with the firestix that might end up having the micron D9's. And if not, oh well. Both those motherboards should be able to give them the 2.2ish V needed without a problem...

Guitar: thanks for the info regarding ram dividers! Since there doesn't appear to be a memory subforum, I'm going to assume this is the best place to ask... Anyone have some suggestions for reasonable RAM for OCing that's under $200 for the 2gb kit? Cheaper while still not being the limiting...

I'm helping my brother put together a computer that he'll be taking off to college with him. I'm rather experienced with building and overclocking machines, I just haven't really kept up with what's the best since my last build (early adopter, 939 opteron) I'd like to get moderate...

NVIDIA fan control / temp monitor

So somehow or another, the fan header on my NVIDIA card has gone bad. Plugging the fan into the socket on the board yields a fan that doesn't spin. If I plug the fan into my motherboard, it spins full speed. Since this is pretty darn loud, I put a fanmate between the motherboard and the GPU...

Another plus is that you can get widescreen LCD's. They may exist for CRTs as well, but I've never seen them. Also ... my 2405fpw LCD is heavy enough. I couldn't imagine carting around a 24" widescreen CRT. The biggest issue for me, though, is the refresh rate issue. Even at 80hz, some...

Your newest post reminded me that I meant to go back and answer these. 1) Yes! One of the many nice things is that it can show up as a single drive (or be partitioned just like a normal large drive could be) 2) I'm not really sure what you mean, but I think I touch on this in the next...

Thank god .. that other was far too expensive. FYI, that card doesn't do the hardware RAID5, but that isnt as big of a deal if you've got the 3000+ and aren't using the computer for anything else. To answer a queston from earlier, yes, the HighPoint RocketRAID 1820A does have hardware...

Oh, I forgot to mention -- some of those controller cards support PCI-X, but are still backwards compatable with regular PCI slots. Like someone else said, don't worry -- you won't be saturating the PCI bus (133 MB/sec) any time soon with a home fileserver like this. And even if you somehow...
