    minimum RAM for Linux?

I can attest to running with 64MB of RAM, that's why my system has now. It's also an AMD K6-2 266, pretty old technology. Anyway, I'm using Mandrake 7.1 with KDE. Running just KDE, gtop reports about 50 MB of RAM used with about 5 MB of swap. Running Netscape ups the total RAM usage to about...

    Mandrake 7.2 cannot find modem

I had a Modem Blaster, internal PCI, and it is a winmodem. If you have a similar modem, it will not work in linux because it requires special drivers which nobody has bothered to release yet :(. Any other details about your modem that would show whether or not it's a winmodem?

Problem with qmail and a new host..

To allow qmail to recieve mail for other ips/dnses, add the hostname to the $qmail/control/rcpthosts file, as well as the $qmail/control/locals file. As for sending mail, that should fix it too, and if it doesn't, I'm out of ideas :)

    Ricochet Wireless Network

My friend got it for his laptop, and it seems to work pretty well. It's not as fast as 128kbps, but he's still trying to diagnose why. Usually he connects anywhere from 30-80 kbps, so it's like a 56k modem on most days. For what it's worth, he's also using it under Redhat 6.2 on his laptop...

Wireless LAN: My experiences with 11Mb wireless

I've been fortunate enough to be able to use 802.11b networking at school (Airport), and it was really cool the first time I saw it. Some of the "wow" factor wore off, but it works. My school has begun to deploy Airport extensively throughout the school. Each part of the school has a...

Whats the best 10/100 NIC? Whats your opionon.

I give my vote for Netgear. I've got two FA310TX (version 1 or something I think), and i've had it for almost two years with no problems. Works with every OS I throw at it, including Win2k, Linux, and FreeBSD. Damn cheap too. Only problem is that it doesn't have the header for Wake on Lan (then...

    I wanna learn Linux/Unix

I'd agree that it doesn't really matter too much what distro you start out with (distro = a "version" of linux, ie Redhat, slackware, etc.), but I do think people who are interested in really learning linux should start with one of the less "user-friendly" distributions and...
