Boot into Safe Mode and take a look at the running services...
...now THAT'S the BARE minimum.
Mmm, now there's a thought. How much of the time could I get by with Safe Mode :)
I second the network suggestion. We've a POS network where I work (still 100Mbps) and my machine ALWAYS does this at bootup. My solution is to restart my machine when I leave work so it's all settled by the morning ;) [Our Big Broher IT manager insists we turn off our machines every night -...
Similar problem here too. The lights in my PS/2 mouse are always on. They went off when used on my old PC but stay on with the new one - Asus K8N-E Deluxe mobo.
So should I take a look in the BIOS for Suspend features?
I guess I'll take a look and re-post if it works!
Wot? HDs have spares? Seriously? Is that a h/w thing or a Windows format 'feature' or what? Why has nobody told me this before? I demand satisfaction! ;)
A new WinXP install on a HD with XP already on it? Well, XP will probably install OK but where was all your friend's music? Was it in My Documents\My Music? Just a thought I guess - each user in XP gets their own "My Documents" directory.
Basically - just go looking under C:\Documents and...
I know this thread is probably dead but...
Last night I used RivaTuner RC15.4 to unlock ALL pipelines on my 6800LE! So from 8 pixel/4 vertex @ 300/700MHzto 16 pixel/6 vertex pipelines @ 350/860MHz.

As you can see, I tend to make 'em last! :)
Plus when you run it on WinXP SP2 (with Data Execution Prevention) you get the following message:
"To help protect your computer, Windows has closed this program."
Hmm, maybe they know something we don't? ;) Prime95 IS A VIRUS! Flames on a postcard please. :)

"Religion is poison." - Mao Tse-Tung
Remember the Crusades? The civilised Arab world was none too impressed with "barbarian" Christians back then either. Organised religion, when it gets too powerful, often explodes in this manner. Believing you will go to Heaven for fighting for your deity...
I OC'ed a Compaq POS once. Similar circumstances though - manual (downloaded in PDF) mentioned nothing of the sort but I spotted a few likely sets of jumpers and started tinkering. Figured out which settings were for FSB and which for multiplier. Ended up getting 440MHz out of the 350MHz K6-2...
The review says "...271 FSB at 1:1." In this case though the memory IS running @ 271MHz? Am I correct in understanding what the 1:1 means. I know it can be 5:6 or possibly other less. 271Mhz out of PC3200 though. Nice. That's what I'm getting at. Thanks BrentUnitedMem.
