How to CORRECTLY optimize your SSD for windows 7

Based on my needs, what SSD should I get?

I don't play my games often enough to justify that. Wasting 8gb of space for say, Crysis is pointless when I only play it like once a week or so. On the other hand, I use Cubase and CS5 about every other day. So they definitely justify an SSD install. I think I'll buy the X25v. If 40gb runs...

Like I said, there will be little to no writing after I install WIN 7 and my apps. This is strictly a read drive.

Now bear with me here, because I'm not an SSD expert...and if I was I wouldn't be asking you guys. But I'll try to explain what my needs are here. -I only need 30-50gb of space because the only thing I'm putting on the SSD is my OS and a few select programs. (CS5, Vegas, Cubase 5) Everything...

About the closest I'll ever get to "encoding" is editing 1080p files. So I guess no?

Okay, I actually did have HT on so I tried turning it off like you said. First thing I noticed (obviously) is that I'm down to 4 threads in prime 95. Okay, cool. I ran the torture test and temps have been GREATLY reduced. Instead of 82c I'm only getting up to about 72c However...

x6 1055 - MSI 890GXM-G65 224.99 i7 930 P6T SE $329!

I went into Fry's the first morning they did this deal with my fingers crossed, and sure enough they still had them. Probably since it was a small town outlet. Not in a big city. I'm psyched. Basically just rebuilt my PC for $300.

Core i7 build wont boot

Okay, it was just some arbitrary IDE setting I had to disable. No problem. One last thing though, kind of random... The I/O shield doesn't want to go in place because the I/O ports are too flush against the back of my case. I'm using a CM 690 II by the way.

And now I'm faced with a whole new problem, which is the fact that the asus Bios doesn't want to detect any of my hard drives.

That last one got it. It loosened the screws on the mobo and suddenly my problem was solved. Odd....

I just redid my old system and put in an I7 930 along with an Asus pt6 se mobo and 6gb of corsair ddr3 ram. I reused my Antec 640 watt PSU. Didn't think it would be an issue. Now it's all together and... I plug in the cpu, and the mobo lights come on. So far so good. As soon as I hit...

Stock heatsink question

Yeah that's what I'm thinking. I think I'm just a lazy a** and don't feel like cleaning/reapplying the thermal paste. But I'll man up and do it.
