Scott, That is exactly the problem. I don't have the warranty for this laptop, how much do you think it costs to do the replacement?

The screen just turns off but the laptop stays on.

I have a Dell Laptop 5160, and when I start up the laptop, about 1-2 minutes after windows loads, the whole screen just shuts off. I just reformatted the computer too. Any ideas!?

I am installing windows xp and during the format, at 81% the blue box changed to red and it doesn't seem like its still formating. What should I do?

I recently purchased a HP Compaq Presario C714 and I want to downgrade to Windows XP. I have a cd and tried to boot it, but when I try to install it, the laptop didn't recognize any hard disk/hard drive. How could I fix this?
