Has Windows XP 64's performance improved?

Thanks for reassuring me. After glancing at Newegg today, I saw how ridiculously cheap parts were compared to when I built my current rig. So I'm going to wait until I've got some extra money and just build a new system with Vista 64.

Has Windows XP 64's performance improved?

It's time to reformat and I have two options: Windows XP or XP 64. (I would like to put Vista on, but Creative does not make a Vista driver for my sound card, so it will have to wait until I buy a new sound card or rebuild). I've done some googling on 32 bit XP versus 64 bit XP performance...

Third dimm slot not working

Well I took out the motherboard and didn't see any damage. I put it back in with nothing plugged in except the processor and video card and still got nothing. Then I tried the 1 gig stick and it booted up. I think just unplugging the power supply connections from the motherboard is what fixed...

Third dimm slot not working

Thanks for the idea Dream Operator. I tried your suggestion of using one stick in all the slots, but no dice. I've also tried booting with no sticks in, and I still get nothing. You'd think I'd least get the bios, but nothing. My internal speaker is plugged in, but I'm not sure if it is working...

I installed a 1 gb stick of OCZ DDR yesterday. I already had 2 512 mb sticks in. I put the 1 gb stick into the blue slot and moved the 512 sticks to the two yellow slots. I try starting it up and it won't post. I tried every combination I can think of, but it will not post. Even putting just the...

Well, I tried what bsobel suggested and changed my password. A different password worked when resuming from sleep. I tried switching back to my original password after that and then it also worked. A few days later the problem reappeared. I tried changing my password again to fix it and then...

I will try changing my password to something like aaa when I get home from work. My account is administrator level as well. I will also check on the regional keyboard settings when I get home.

I did a full spyware and virus scan. The only thing that came up was from Spybot, it was some Alexa related issue. Unsurprisingly, it didn't fix my problem. I noticed that when I restart after it won't recognize the pw, I get a warning message that there are users logged into this computer...

Windows XP won't recognize login password

I installed a printer a few weeks before this started happening. The most recent software I have installed was that Earth View desktop/screensaver app. I uninstalled Earth View on Sunday and tried resuming from sleep last night but it still would not recognize my pw.

Windows XP won't recognize login password

When I resume my computer from sleep mode, it asks me for my password. I know I enter it correctly, its only 3 letters, no caps lock, anything like that. But for some reason, Windows always says its not the correct password. Starting up from a cold boot, or restarting after it won't recognize...
