[DEAD] AMD Athlon 64 3400+ 1600MHz HT 512KB L2 Cache Socket 754 Processor - OEM

just bought this combo for my wife's pc a week or so ago. got the biostar board with it. took my friend to show me where the sata ports were...lol. there aren't where i've normally seen them and they just blended in with the board....but they're on there.

Widescreen or No Widescreen for PC Gaming LCD?

i like widescreen for gaming. had a 15.4" widescreen on my emachine laptop before it died. just got a gateway 19" widescreen from bestbuy for $229. a couple of my friends have the dell 20" widescreen. i just think that widescreen is better for gaming cause (depending on the game) gives you a...

Arn't these basicaly the same monitors?

looks like they are pretty much the same....just some asthetic difference. as a matter of fact, that is basically the same monitor as my gateway 19". the stand looks like the one from newegg and the monitor section looks like the one from TD....with the same buttons on the side.

Quandary

new 754 mobo with pci-e is NOT viable. it cuts down on your ability to upgrade later on down the road......without having to re-buy another mobo. i'm guessing you dont have enough money to commit to a new cpu/mobo AND video card...so my advice is get an agp video card, then save up some money...

Upgrade 9600XT AGP to.......

thanks for all the ideas, everyone. now i'm torn between ati and nvidia. of course i'm not going to be buying a new card until around the 4th of next month, so who knows, maybe someone will have a 7600gt agp out by then.

ooops, forgot to add that the games my wife plays are: Guild Wars: Faktions, Titan Quest, sometimes WoW....will be playing Neverwinter Nights 2 when it comes out.
