win XP only boots from CD?

The RAID is integrated on motherboard (Abit IC7 max3 with ICH5R southbridge) and I'm not sure about SCSI drive but I don't think so. I'll check. Joe M.

win XP only boots from CD?

My fresh Win XP pro install will only boot from CD. Its loaded on a RAID 0 array and runs fine as long an the Win XP disk is in the CD drive at boot up. How do I get the OS to load properly? 1st/2nd/3rd boot device is floppy/hdd/hdd and hard disk boot priority is set to bootable add in device...

Another Raid question

Thanks, that's exactly what I needed to know. I forgot entirely about the floppy that came with the motherboard. I don't think I've used a floppy disk in years! Joe M.

I'm setting up a raid 0 drive with a pair of SATA raptors and I have a 200Gb Maxtor drive (non SATA) for backup. When I load windows for the first time, the setup disk only seems to recognize the maxtor drive (which I have set to master). Does the windows program have to be loaded onto the...

Best Ram?

When I wrote this I had already pulled the plug. I suppose I could return it when it arrives if there would be a significant advantage to buying more or "matched" RAM. Would 4x 256 Mb be the same as 2X512 or is one better than the other? Is there any need for 1 Gb over 512 Mb for gaming/home...

Best Ram?

P4 2.8C, Abit IC7-g Max 3, ATI radeon 9700 NP for gaming, video editing. Whats the best Ram price no object and whats the best Ram for the price with minimal noticeable speed loss. Actually, stability is more important than speed even though I plan to OC (very tame OC). Thanks, Joe M.

533MHz vs. 800MHz FSB?

I need to change my motherboard. I plan to keep my present 2.4B P4 processor but I can upgrade if worthwhile. How significant a difference will a 2.4C with 800MHz FSB be in comparison on an Abit IC7 MB. Joe M.

Computer freezes when surfing web

It only seems to happen when I'm surfing. I'll reload drivers and see what happens. If that doesn't work Ill try another browser. If that doesn't work I might have to seinstall Win XP and start from scratch. I might try another stick of Ram and finally I'll try a new motherboard thinking...

Computer freezes when surfing web

I ran prime 95 for hours without a problem. 15 minutes of surfing and the computer freezes. I can't use mouse/keyboard and have to reboot by restarting the computer. Sometimes I can only surf for 5 minutes. I have charter cable internet via router, integrated Lan on Via P4PB ultra mainboard...
