Problem with icons all over my desktop

I tried a system restore. It was like this before I reinstalled the drivers. Those seem like system32 files to me. I have no idea how they would get onto the desktop just by crashing when trying to come out of sleep mode and then rebooting.

Gateway XP Home Service Pack 1

I am reformatting a friend's computer and I get an error during XP installation saying that I am required to insert the Service Pack 1 CD. They don't have this CD anymore. I guess Gateway just broke up the installation to require a few CDs. Does anyone know a solution to this. Hopefully...

Accelero S1 vs. HIS ICEQ3

So I am looking at getting a HD3850 and was wondering about cooling. I could get a 256mb version for $175 and the HIS 512mb ICEQ3 version for $200. Is the accelero S1 sufficient to cool a 3850 passively if I have very good airflow in my case? Also, is the ICEQ3 cooling system quiet enough to...

What mid-range card to get?

I am running vista, so I want a DX10 capable card. Price under $150 but would be willing to go up to $175 if it is a higher end card for a very good deal. Not willing to break that $175 mark so don't bother saying 'an 8800gt is the solution to all your problems'. A 512mb card would be preferable...

the key is what your temps are at load. You should be running prime95 for a period of time to check for stability and temps after every adjustment. If your temps are below 70 and you have stability at 1.48 vcore. I can't see why you shouldnt increase. Every chip is different, so as much as...

Another Q6600 first overclock

I figured out what the problem is. I had set the motherboard to control the HSF speed. It ended up that the RPMs would not go about 1300. Which is about 50% of max speed for the arctic cooling pro fan. I now set up a profile with speedfan and my idle temps with 2600rpm fan speed are now...

Are my temps too high?

hey I have the exact same set-up. part for part. Disable Q-fan control in the BIOS and use speedfan to control your fan speeds. The Q-fa ncontrol in the BIOS only allows the arctic cooling fan to rev up to 50% speed. That should drop your temps 5 degrees or so.

I am running a arctic cooling 7 pro heat sink. I have a coolermaster 690 with a 120 mm intake, 120mm exhaust, 2 120mm blow hole exhaust, 1 120mm bottom intake, and 2 120mm side intake. Most are scythe or yate loon fans rated at around 45cfm. So I think the cooling is OK? I also have re-done...
