Hmm....Is this due to slightly looser default timings? If so, would it be possible to compensate for this small performance loss by running a slightly higher FSB without compromising stability?
I'll raise my hand as well. Running an HX520 without any issues so far. I think that even though there appear to be a lot of people that have problems with this combo, there are even more that don't have any issues. Nevertheless, I hope Abit and Corsair figure out what is going on soon for...
No problems with the memory.
My only issue with the build was a strange intermittent boot issue, where XP would occasionally hang right at the beginning of the the loading screen where you could just barely see the windows logo.
After comparing my settings to the optimized defaults, I...
I can confirm that #3 is stable (at least for me). To me, #3 makes sense for a 9x333 overclock because:
a) timings are still pretty good
b) 1:1 ratio (no real world performance difference at 1:1.20)
c) Voltage is still pretty low
Btw, #2 was also 100% stable for me (since that is spec...
I have question about memory timings/voltage/speed. The Crucial Ballistix are rated at 4-4-4-12 with 2.2v at 800 Mhz. If I have the Q6600 at 9x333 and maintain 1:1 ratio, the RAM is running at ~667 MHz.
Would it make any sense run the RAM with the same timings but at a lower voltage since...
I carefully compared my BIOS settings to the Optimized Defaults (I had everything written down for reference). The only difference was that I had the IDE controller disabled as I don't have any IDE devices. Just as a test, I enabled the IDE controller. Here's the weird part...the intermittant...
Thanks SerpentRoyal. My memory (Crucial Ballistix) is running at spec - 4-4-4-12 @2.2v, but at 667 MHz (1:1). Memtest86+ (including test #5) passes. At first I was exciting since I thought I was stable at stock VCore, but apparantly that is not the case :(. Here's a little more info on what...
I can run my q6600 at 9x333 at stock Vcore (Prime 95 small FFT) for 24+ hours without any errors, but unless I raise my Vcore a few notches, windows freezes about half the time on the XP splash screen while booting. Any thoughts as to why this is happening?
I'm looking at the IP35-E/Q6600 and some Crucial Ballistix 6400 which are spec'd for 4-4-4-12 @2.2v. I know these are supposed to be good sticks, but I'm still concerened that they need 2.2v to run at the specified timings. Is there any downside to running ram at such a high voltage? When...
Thanks for all the input, guys. Much appreciated. FWIW, I used to ATI Tool to clock the core down from 380MHz to 50MHz. After about the 60 mins in windows, the HSF is barely warm to the touch. In any case, I will follow your advice and will rig up some temporary active cooling. Thanks...
The fan on my 9800 PRO went caput. If I underclock the heck out of it, is it ok to run the card in windows without the fan for a few days until my replacement card arrives?
Thanks!
