Go down to the store. Do not rely on the online in-stock checker. Also, make sure you ask someone to look in the back for you if you don't see it on the shelf. You might get lucky, it worked for me. I paid $222 + tax after 10% off coupon.

Don't rely on the online inventory checker. Have him go into the Best Buy store and ask someone if he doesn't see it on the shelf. I got mine when it was listed as "unavailable" on the website and wasn't on the shelf. They pulled it out from the back when I asked someone. Good luck! Edit...

My Amazing 8800GT Deal!

I can't speak for eVGA, but the BFG from BB overclocks like a champ and I'm normally not an overclocker. You may get lucky and be able to overclock the reference board to SSC speeds, but most who will pay extra for SSC speeds are probably trying to avoid relying on luck anyways, eh?

Right now, I'm using RivaTuner to adjust it manually since the auto keeps it set at 29%. I haven't fiddled too much with the fan settings yet, but I'm sure you can set up a profile to have it change speeds with different temps via RT. Someone else may have a better/more detailed directions for...

Yeah, that's what I was thinking :) They were selling 8600GTSs for $249 when I bought the 8800GT last week for $279. The main reasons I got one from BB is that they had one in stock and I had a 10% off coupon. The price match guarantee and return policy until Jan 31st are kinda nice though...

I stand corrected :) better check out your local best buy after all! That's a really good price on a really good card. I'm normally not an overclocker, but I've overclocked mine to 700/1728/1950 very easily (and i think I still have more room to go) which is almost the same specs as a card NE...

Most BBs have run out and don't have them in stock anymore so it might be hard to do, unless you mean rebuy the exact one you are returning which they probably won't let you do- restocking issues etc... It's kinda funny to start a sale on an item that's not in stock in any of their Ca stores...

Who else thinks the HD3870 sucks?

Why is everyone mad because there isn't a card to run Crysis well at high res? Maybe they should be mad at EA because they didn't develope a game that will run well on most video cards. It's crazy how one game determines whether people think a card is good or not.

I can't believe I bit on this so soon, I was planning to wait for prices to drop. Anyway, I went to BB on my lunch break today to pick up NFS pro street and while the kid was looking in their computer system for NFSPS I asked him to look up when they would be getting more 8800 GT cards...

At this point (before the "updated" GTS is released) it seems they should have named the GT the GTR, or something similar, and lowered the prices on the 8800 GTS to the MSRP of the GT. Made the hierarchy look something like... GTS<GTR<GTX<Ultra... woulda saved a lot of confusion, for me at...
