curious about P4c & overclockability

I have a 2.4C on an IS7 that is at 3.2 ghz. I've used Cruial PC3200 and then Mushkin Black Level II (think it's rated at PC3500, Cas 2225). I never saw any Seti performance difference based on the faster RAM, not sure why. Perhaps because I was running it at 5:4 due to the high FSB. The...

OK...Gonna build a new "SETI CRUNCHER" Need some recommendations

For a Seti cruncher, it's hard to beat a 2.4C with HT. I spec'ed out some stuff at Newegg, looks like you can get into a fairly nice rig for around $500 or so. P4 2.4C $164 Asus P4P800 $108 (built in network & sound) 2X256 Crucial PC3200 $70 Lite-On...

I liked that Barton so well....

Perhaps el cheapo is an overstatement, got 2 256 MB sticks for $39/each at Fry's. Looks like I'm getting WU's in the 2:10-2:20 range, not too bad so far. Looks like I'll be peaking at around 60-70 WU's per day, just in time for Seti to end :| edit: obviously thats for all my machines, not...

I liked that Barton so well....

I built another Shuttle AN35N/Barton 2500+ system for my youngest son. :D Bought some el cheapo Corsair PC 3200 and the usual stuff, booted up and it's cranking along at 3200+ speed. I got Fry's to sell me a returned Zalman AlCu for half price, and it's running at 40 deg Cel under full load...

Woot!! Santa left me a Barton :)

Did a little upgrade to one of my boxes, a Barton 2500 and a Shuttle AN35 Ultra 400. You talk about bang for the buck, I zipped the Barton to a 200Mhz fsb on first boot (optomistic, huh?), none of that burn-in crap for me, no problems at all. I'm using the stock HS/F and left over Cricial 3200...

OT: New Rig Suggestions?

Might need a mount change, an email to thermalright on availabilty/price may be worthwhile. Dang heatsinks cost as much as some XP's....

My main rig was an AMD, just did one of the IS7/P4C deals because 1) it's good at Seti and 2) good tired of just AMD stuff, wanted to get back into the Intel scene, I hadn't fooled with Intel since the Celery 633/950 era. I doubt there is any speed difference any of us can see while surfing...

Zalman CNPS-7000Cu - will it fit on an IS7-G okay?

It's your $2, but you haven't submitted any reason to believe the Cu is preferable to the AlCu. As Al dissipates heat better than Cu, I'd be inclined to prefer the AlCu model in a hot room, and a HS that weighs 50% over spec would give me some reason for concern unless I knew it was going to...

Is this a good overclock? I'm sort of frustrated

Have you increased your DDR voltage? IS7 will let it go up to 2.8 which should be no problem for that RAM.

Woot!!

:cool: I'm not sure how high my Crucial 3200 Cl3 will go, but it ain't 250 Mhz! RIght now I'm at 2.6V 2.5-3-2-5 on a 5:4 mem ratio. Haven't had time to go to 2.8V and see what it'll do, I got a "no post" on Cas 2 at stock voltage.

nforce2 or springdale/canterwood?

:Q It all comes down to how fast it runs Seti.... A 2.4C chip and an 865, tough to beat. ;)
