yet another computer buidling advice thread

I'm not that familar with the 6800OC board but in general if you are gaming then by no means skimp out on $$ when it comes to the GPU. GPU is typically by far the most important piece to a gaming rig. The 6800 GT would probably be worth it if you can afford it. Also, I'd go for 1G of ram.

As a gamer I can definetly say that w00t is used a ton by gamers. Not sure it started there, but its definetly commonplace there. The above examples were good one "I defeated the sorceror - w00t!". leet or l33t is also gamer language as far as I know. In some of the first online games that...

Aberdeen barebones system decent for gaming?

To answer your question: yes that system would be very good for gaming. To me its a good deal, paying 100$ to have someone put all the sht together for you isn't a bad deal IMO.

5900XT or ATI 9800pro

1. The 5900XT and the 9800 Pro is not an even comparison as the Pro is much better 2. You should upgrade the other parts of your computer, wait and see how the new video card battles unfold and buy one of them. The next generation gpu's look like they'll smoke anything on the market now.

More IQ hacks from nvidia ?Farcry..

Talk about fanboys geeeeeshh!!!! I don't really see how someone could care so much about a driver release for nvidia when they are playing a radeon card. You can't enjoy playing your game anymore because nvidia has new drivers, and iq is this or that, blah blah blah? you've got to be kidding...

This is just hypothetical, but what if a Playstation 3 came out in 2005 that had better graphics than what was acheivable on a R9800XT? P.S. I'm Nexu there and I just posted so you can see I how really feel there.

Just bought FX 5900XT - confused!

It might also be worth mentioning that when nvidia brought this card out in december at ~$187 with Call of Duty and it competed with the 9600XT because the 9800Pro was $250-280 most places. Since then the 9800Pro price has been lowered to ~$210 to compete better.

Just bought FX 5900XT - confused!

Tom's hardware.... those results are interesting. Its also interesting that the intent of the article was to compare overall video card performance with price. In overall score the R9800Pro beat the FX5900SE by a score of 938-870.6 making it a 7% "better" card. There isn't really that many...
