Are you buying a GTX 1070/1080?

I ordered a pair of 1080s from falcon nw in a fancy new fragbox. first new pc since 2009*, first upgrade since I crammed a 7970 into that ancient beast in 2012. hard to express how excited I am! (*excluding the 4 month ordeal I endured with cyberpowerpc last year. for the love of humanity...

question about sli, number of cards reported

I don't see anything in the the nvidia software about this being sli. for example, when prompted about physx it just says it will figure it out. when it displays what's plugged in, I can see both monitors into the back of one card, and no other cards displayed.

ok, I need a bit of help. I bought a new pc from one of the custom shops and that all went pretty well. booted up and everything appeared to be working. 2x evga 980ti (hydro copper in a liquid loop). (1 evga sli bridge connecting those) asus maximus hero viii 6700k (also in the loop)...

I bought the i7 960 in 2k9 with the thought that I'd probably move on fairly soon, maybe grab the 6 core version when it came out. 5 years later, still no great need to upgrade...

Worthy upgrade from 2600k yet?

I've been running a 960 since the end of 2k9. every generation I tell myself "this will be the generation I upgrade!" ... and I don't. I'm currently planning to jump on haswell-e... until it arrives and I then also don't. I'm starting to feel like a terrible enthusiast.

Chromecast issues

I actually quit using mine. I had to power cycle it at least once per use, sometimes more. it would get confused and stop playing or keep playing when I told it to stop. I was only using the hbo go app, so that may be the problem, but either way... I gave up.

just did the science. summary: fail. so it used to be, if you let your computer sleep, it would fail to wake up. and not cycle up on reset. only a power down would do it. and on power up, windows would try to kill itself, which the only solution to was power down again, cancel the self...

Updated AMD graphics drivers causing screen flicker

I had this problem with 12.2. I uninstalled and reinstalled. problem went away.

7970 dcii help...

well, if anyone is interested, switching to a displayport cable for the 30 inch monitor and then a displayport-to-dvi cable for the 27 solved all of my problems.
