Still can't decide what case to buy...

If you're looking at the 800D, why not the Lian Li Lancool k62? Not as big but relatively similar design. If you need the full case & hot swap there's the Zalman cases: GS1000 or GS 1000 TT? Just some thoughts.

For anyone interested, here was the solution: In the end it was that stupid idea to put that second stick of old kingston value ram in with the new stick of Patriot 667 ddr2 @ 5-5-5-15 ram. This compounded by the extremely out of date nforce4 board by foxconn which was lacking dual core...

XP hdd backup - restore in new machine

I am working a new build. THe harddrive in the machine will be used in the new machine. What's the quickest/easiest/best way to back up the hdd so when I do the fresh install on the new machine I can restore as much of the settings/preferences/data as possible? I currently have the drive...

PC Case

This is the one at the top of my list for that price point. Beyond that, going up to $100+ mark, I like the CM Sniper or the new LanCool PC-K62. :D

Pentium D and fan shroud

Here's the situation: I have an old Pentium D 820 in a system where the case came with the fan shroud. However, whoever put the thing together added an aftermarket cpu cooler (CM of some sort) that has a downward blowing fan. There's obviously a fan on the side panel at hte top of the shroud...

Fox5, Thanks for that. THat's the kind of info I was looking for. If I can't make this work I'd like to be able to tell her... look, let me upgrade the MB, CPU etc to this... whatever... and then it should work. I just don't want to spend her money on cr4p that may not change anything. So...

Ok, here we go: It's a GeForce 8500 512m. Upgrading the system not an option, they have no $$ (just trying to fix the bsod and occasoional artifacts) I have played COD4 online with this internet connetion (different Machine) and BF2 and both very well. So, I don't think it's a bandwidth...

Hey all, For starters, I don't play this game I'm just trying to trouble shoot for a family member. My question is, does anyone know what the most limiting factors in that game are? Like, if I was to upgrade where would I start? (specifically for Second Life, not in general...cuz this game...

I Think I Just Found My Next Case

The plastic clips on the CM690 are hardly the same as these metal levered clips. He didn't say these were the first. Just the first he'd seen that are worth a damn.

Ah yes, zip ties. The duct tape of the computer world. Duct tape, zip ties, and a pocket knife will solve 90% of all life's little problems. (the other 10% requires only a dremel tool ;) )

Yeah, that's what I've been doing. Thanks for the response though. But, I'm not looking for help choosing what to buy, just more general info re: the number schemes of the cards. I guess I'm just looking for some free education here. I'm not 100% sure what the numbers on these cards signify...
