OH, very sorrry! no, my XP Pro 32 bit O/S runs on a Velociraptor HDD. the RAID 1 is just for applications and data files only... thanks!

How to move RAID controller and drives to new PC build?

hi folks, I have an Adaptec 3805 RAID controller, currently running RAID 1 across two 1TB WD Caviar drives. I want to move the controller and drives to a new pc build, and obviously retain my data and RAID status. Is it as simple as plugging everything into the new PC, powering it up...

Why wn't PC shut off?

thanks very much folks, I am going to try post #1 and modify the BIOS. there are a couple of "wake on" options enabled that I will play with. if it does not work, then I will try the BIOS update...

Why wn't PC shut off?

hi folks, finished the build in my sig. about two weeks ago...when i shut down Windows 7, the O/S shuts down, my monitor power light begins blinking, meaning that the graphics card has powered off, but the system itself does not power down. the fans, CPU temp monitor, keep alive LED's...

new build with Win7-6Gb of RAM really usable?

New gaming rig-Win XP Pro or Win7?

wow.....I guess it's a lock for Win7! I was asking because I passed big time on Vista...I just was not going to deal with the oddities of that O/S, so before I went with Win7, I wanted some confirmation that it handles gaming ok. XP pro, while outdated, has been rock solid on my gaming...

hi folks, i am building a new gaming rig, and run FPS games(Crysis, Modern Warfare 2, etc). it will be high end(i7-960, EVGA MOBO, Corsair DDR3 2000 memory, EVGA GTX 285 video, etc) I have always used XP as my o/s. i am wondering is it time to go with Win7? is it buggy from a gaming...

Moving into a new case-any issues with this?

Hi folks, I have to get out of this Xclio case. i am getting a Silverstone Nvidia edition ATX full tower. question. i will be disconnecting everything and moving all pieces from current case to the new case, and hooking everything back up. should I expect that everything will come up...

pink noise on screen/lockups during games

thanks folks. i will check out the temps, but I might have found it. after reading my post back.....the addition of the G9x....Logitech has Setpoint software that gets installed. i tried an older G5 mouse and played numerous games...no issue. went back to the G9x....lockup! went out...

OK, so I missed a step-advice please?

thanks. guess it got me to thinking. should I run a dual-boot system? WinXP as well as Vista? I assume some folks are doing that to ensure compatibility with older games that they still like to play, but Vista to get all the advantages of future releases....

OK, so I missed a step-advice please?

so, I ordered pieces for a new build per my sig. i was going to run good ole' WinXP Pro just like I have for years for the time being....stable...works with all my games, etc. I know that WinXP would only recognize 3.5GB of my memory, but I was ok with that.. I received the memory first...

Please help! strange situation with my video on WinXP

Hi folks, I have 3 WinXP PC's that share a Samsung 244T 24" monitor via a KVM switch. I run them in native 1920x1200 mode. Only one PC is doing this. right after XP comes up to my desktop, a dark cast hits the screen. it turns everything very dark and Photoshop is impossible to use...
