Hard disk not accepting Windows XP

We had the same problem with not one, but TWO Gigabyte mobo's. If that's your motherboard, then maybe it's not the hd. We sent both mobo's back and got a barebones Shuttle and everything works great!

Overheating Problem

Do you have any available bays in the front of the case? If so, open THEM up for more airflow in and put a slot fan in one of the pci openings in the back.

Trinitron Monitor Lines Problem (No not the wires)

Sounds like you might have gotten the screen magnetized by something nearby. Sony monitors have a degaussing menu item. Do it and see if this improves your situation. Make sure you don't have speakers too close or anything else magnetic too close to monitor. Alternative would be that your...

Best Backup Program

Second Copy!!!!! I use it all the time. I encourage my customers (I do computers for a living) to purchase it. Just make sure you set up "profiles" for all the stuff you'd need in a failure. For example, Outlook's .PST files, etc.

System Restore/Undeletable Virus

OK, but the System Restore has saved my butt a couple of times (in addition to ALWAYS having a perfect Ghost image of OS and apps). I might suggest the free anti-virus software which is very good. Get the FREE version at www.grisoft.com. Install it and see if it can delete any trojans, etc...

Make a copy of a drive?

If you want to do a perfect drive to drive copy, then use the software that came with the drive. For example, MaxBlast with a Maxtor drive, etc. If all you want to do is copy your DATA, then just jumper the drive as slave...don't even mount it in the case. Just connect IDE cable and power and...

ahh!!! my comp wontboot

For now, go back into the BIOS and set it for defaults. See if that gets you back up and running properly. You can tweak later, one thing at a time.

need help with microsoft word - grouping words together for editing.

You need to do the document as a FORM (as above) using the FORMS toolbar. You would insert a text box field for the part of the form you want the person to fill in. Forms are a bit complicated but very powerful once you know how, so it might be worthwhile to take time to learn this capability...

Wordperfect to Word

If you have WordPerfect 9, can you SAVE AS a WordPerfect 6 format (under Files of Type). THAT version, Word can open. When you're in WORD, do FILE OPEN (files of type) Select WP version 6. You will lost any fancy formatting, but this should do the trick.
