LOL, Crap... I re-uploaded a wav file I had to filefront. Here is the new link... http://www.filefront.com/14555227/the%20sound.wav I've heard it several times on my new laptop. Still haven't narrowed down any further.

UPDATE! I just heard the sound again! I got a new laptop at work and haven't heard it until today when I've been installing visual studio stuff. I've installed VS6 and am installing VS2002. I just installed activesync yesterday, but never heard the sound yesterday, and closing the activesync...

Bump I haven't heard the sound in a while, so I can't test any troubleshooting methods, but I'm still waiting for more folks to say they hear the exact same sound on their computers and have the solution to fix it.

Thanks for the reply! I was hoping I wasn't the only one. Scratch off IE7, as I just installed that on my work computer today. Also, I don't use Trillian, but Outlook and Firefox could be culprits, as is XP Pro...

I've never heard power supply crosstalk before - so that's what this sounds like? I guess it's possible, but unlikely, as my laptop doesn't have the traditional power supply, and I think the regulator chips on the other side of the mobo as the audio chips, judging by the battery and audio jacks.
