Soyo Dragon and USB Problems

Thought about a USB PCI card ? A backwards compatable USB2 card is around $35. USB1 card at $25 or so. Probably cheaper than a new mobo. If all else fails RMA that puppy back to the OEM. But that would mean downtime if thats the only computer.

Have you tried swapping your cards around in the slots. Check Device Manager and see if USB support is sharing resources with another device........in that case changing cards around may redo IRQ assignments. But resetting with a reboot means that it's software related. This is what...

Finalizing Mobo Choice for my New Rig

I have always been partial to ASUS.............one of the lowest RMA rates in the industry. Have also had good luck with Abit and Soyo too. Have heard bad things about the VIA chipsets and have never had good luck with onboard peripherals except the Promise RAID controller on the Soyo...

Soyo Dragon and USB Problems

Well, I found out the problem.......somehow my USB cable got unplugged from the back of the tower, maybe by one of the animals. Should have checked that out first. Was all set to do a BIOS upgrade. Figured it would have to be something simple when none of the Soyo FAQ's or Google...

Soyo Dragon and USB Problems

I have the same board and have a similar problem keeping USB support turned on in the BIOS. I turn it on and it keeps turning itself off after bootup. Even tried disabling the serial ports thinking they may be using the same resources but no go. Just now looked in USB Root Hub Properties...

Which motherboard to get????

Have a good luck with ASUS. Abit and Soyo are other considerations. Have built several PC's and have used all boards without any major problems. Probably luck as people on this board have posted problems with all the above mentioned. If I was to pick one manufacturer over any other...

CDR or CDRW for burning audio CD's

Heard an interview with a guy from Plextor and he said that CDRW's create more noise than CDR's when recording audio files.

I LOVE WINDOWS XP PROFESSIONAL Build 2462

Very stable OS. I just wish I could get a hold of Logitech XP beta drivers for my cordless mouse. Just can't live without the doubleclick feature on the thumb button.

Is it okay to mount HD's vertical ?

Just got the literature and it was a Lian Li. I believe it does have a front USB hub. It was a mid-tower that came in several colors and was going for $185. Excellent quality and craftsmanship.

Is it okay to mount HD's vertical ?

There's a pretty expensive anodized aluminum case at the computer show which has the HD's mounted in a vertical position on the floor of the case right in front of the fan. The cooling thing sounds like a good idea. Would it hurt the HD's to mount them this way ?

Help with Data Recovery from an old Hard Drive.

You could run it from her computer by booting to the L&F disks and save the data to another partition. I had good luck with Lost and Found also..... Just ran it in it's own DOS shell. Most files were recoverable. As you may know the most important thing is to not overwrite anything...

How do you enable the NumLock key in NT4.....BIOS is already enabled

Anyone know how to enable the NumLock key in the software in NT4 ? I have enabled it in the BIOS and it still not on after bootup. Any of you guru's have some ideas ? Thanks in advance.
