I am so confused! Q6600 + what mobo + what ram!

I have a 965 mobo, from Gigabyte (965-DQ6), and based on that experience they make good overclocking boards. Took a 1.8GHz E4300 to 2.93GHz (367x8). That leaves my RAM at 980MHz 5-5-5-15. I've seen it post and boot windows up to 3.2GHz, but its just not 100% stable without increasing the...

Need a little help with my build

For the same money, a Wolfdale is a superior processor. I've had two successful builds with Gigabyte motherboards for Core 2 Duo. I took my E4300 (1.8GHz) all the way to 2.96GHz on a Gigabyte 965-DQ6, and that's running 6GB of RAM @ 980MHz. Anything more and I'd have to up the voltage past...

Replacing linux on new system

That is a perfectly good idea. You shouldn't have any trouble installing Windows on a hard drive that used to have linux.

4 pin vs 8 pin +12v on NF570 SLI Board?

Yeah, that's no problem. The other 4 pins aren't for GFX, but for your CPU. I doubt this will affect your OC in any way, if you choose to do so.

Help with 1st PC build

You should go with the 320MB GTS. The 640 doesn't provide anything really tangible over that. I've got the 8800GTS 320, an E4300 @ 2.93GHz (366x8), and can play BioShock in Vista at 2048x1536 with all the detail settings on High (DX10). Granted, AA & AF are off, but I'm still getting more...

Nope, horrible cooler to OC a Q6600 with. You need atleast a Tuniq Tower 120 to OC that on air. I took my E4300 from 1.8GHz to 3GHz with that. I still have another 10-15C of headroom if I want to push it a little more. Where's your HARD DRIVES?

E6300 idling at 60 - HELP!

I've never run that program before, and my LGA775 board is being RMA'd, so I can't run it at the moment, but is anyone else alarmed by the chipset temps? 60C on the Nortbridge and 83C on the South?! Southbridges usually are passive, because they don't get hot. Something seems really wrong...

Conroe build, not really on a tight budget

Hardocp Intel Core 2 Review up

wouldnt it have made more sense to do some benchmarks that depend on the cpu rather than running games at the limits of video cards? some divx encoding or something procesor intensive...sane stuff.
