The 50mm f/1.8G would be excellent. The 50mm f/1.8D will not auto-focus on your camera, and af is a nice thing. The 50mm
If you don't have the 35mm f/1.8G it is a great "normal" prime.
"D" lenses require a motor in the camera. "G" lenses have internal motors. Your camera does not have the...
I would HAVE to clean it. I also use UV filters and clean them with those Zeiss lens cleaner wipes from Wal-mart. I have also used them directly on lenses with no ill effect.
Somebody will probably reply with horror stories....
Keep your eyes open. There have been some real deals on Nikon 1 J-series including the dive housing. I bought my son the J1 deal with the dive housing for around $200. There was just a good deal on the J4 with dive housing for about the same money. Nikonrumos usually points these out.
Owning a number of cameras, the vast majority of my shots are done with the Canon s110. Main reason, is Canon offers a really cool case that fits on my belt with super quick access. It is the camera I always have with me and I can be ready to shoot in a couple of seconds. Of course, I'm a...
My S95 had the inevitable lens zoom failure. I purchased the S110 to replace it, and there is some improvement. But, it seems less of a "jewel" than the S95 and I find I like the button placement on the S95 better. I ordered a new lens assembly off Ebay for $35 and watched a video on how to...
Never tried "delete all" on the D7K. I always format the SD cards before I start shooting, and have ever since my Nikon 995 days. Never had any issues with any of my SD cards. FWIW.
I generally shoot primes on the D7000, all of which are FX except for the 35mm f/1.8. I bought a used Nikon 18-70 f/3.5-4.5 DX a while back and it is a pretty cool lens. It is overall very sharp and I have enjoyed the vignetting for some artistic outdoor shots wide open. It is very sharp at...
What is the best DX mid-zoom for a D7000?
I'm looking for sharpness, fast aperture, quick auto-focus, VR for low-light shooting and good build-quality to include a smooth/precise zoom ring. I want it to be a joy to use and to never be the limiting factor in my shots.

I do still shoot some film. I don't mind paying $100 - $200 for a 35mm that's been CLA'd with all new light seals. I'm looking at a Yashica Electro 35 GSN for around $100 right now. Nothing super great about the camera, but it is a neat range finder with a really sharp lens. They're tons on...
