Installing Win XP MCE 2005 on laptop without Floppy drive ????

Laptop having trouble accessing HD taken from an ext. enclosure

You can check here for some service info....http://h20181.www2.hp.com/plmcontent/NACSC/SML/ It looks like that series uses a Phoenix BIOS with nothing shown about the hard drive. I wonder if Compaq has set the BIOS up for the stock hard drive only (number of heads, sectors, and cylinders)...

Compaq - you need to find out if Compaq still puts part of their BIOS on a hidden partition on the hard drive like they did in the past. I hated hard drive installs on old Compaq computers. That was when Compaq made their own BIOS. You should check if there are hidden partitions on the old...

SATA Cables ?

Is there any differance between SATA I cables and SATA II cables? Is this like the differance between USB 1.1 and USB 2 cables, which is more of a sales pitch then anything else.

Defragmentation

If you do a Google search for dirms and find an older version, it does not require you to register and does not have the 30 day use limit like the new version does. The older version I have is a command line program. For the options, you need to type dirms /?. I have to say that I have...

Noob question

Besure to lap the bottom of the heat sink. Alot of these chipset heat sinks are not very flat and do not contact the chipset evenly. You may gain more from lapping then changing the goop/gump, but change the gump while you have the heat sink off.

Tricks to reduce printer ink consumption?

Here is a software product that does what you are asking for. You may be able to find something like it for free, I don't know, but here is a link to the software. inksaver 2.0 There is a trial download at inksaver.com.
