What is the biggest newb mistake you have made since you got interested in computers?

back in the old days of a 8088 and my first computer, no HD, was playing in area's i shouldnt have been and found a file called autoex..... something or other, HMMMMMMMMM, must be something left over from one of the racing games i had on a disk, It wont hurt to del. that.....

Back from China with our baby girl! She's the cutest!

You are very lucky,or rather she is. I hope you give her a great life with lots of love. I see just the oppsite with my daughter and the father of her 9 month old, he doesnt seem to care at all about his baby, and shes the most darling happiest baby i have ever saw. Lucky for her and her mom...

win98 network question

my daughter has a win98 computer downstairs connected thru my dsl router, has a linksys card in it, was connecting fine till card went bad ( i think it did) anyway, bought a new card smae type and model, now it wont connect, its like no cable is connected to router, but, i can ping my router and...

Half Life 2: Most Memorable Moment?

Mine was when the gravity gun was transformed and i dragged my first soldier to me, held him up by one leg, shook the crap out of him, then tossed him to what looked like 100 feet in the air and watched him "smoosh" on the walkway in front of me :) BUT, i loved dog, wish he had been a bigger...

I just found out you dont, once you have steam running, any updates downloaded, you just close steam, DONT LOG OUT , just close it, disconnect your computer from the phone line (unplug the cable to computer) restart steam, you should then have a, start in "OFFLINE MODE" button. I did it...

i got tired of having to hunt the cd and played around with different ways to not use it, i still have to be online to start game and use steam, but i burned a image file of disk 1 to HD after i installed it with Alcohol 120, and just mount that in a virtual drive, not much better but cuts out...

Installing flue damper in double-wall chimney pipe?

depends, if its a large diameter pipe, can you get a damper that has a long enough thru shaft to work? If so, it wont hurt to have one, better burn control. Now if you have any single pipe below the triple wall, easy to put one in there too. I have seen stoves not need a damper but there...
