boot times with the promise are much faster in my case. i have an ibm 60gxp and boot in 53 secs with the promise against 65 with the via ide controller...

yep, you can use palomino with the a7v133, however you'll need another chipset to make use of the powernow function (but don't worry, powernow is targeted at notebooks). btw, you should really attach the hd to the promise controller, because it's much faster than the via controller.

Why Does Win2K Take Forever To Boot?

have my ibm 60gxp attached to the promise ata100 controller on my asus a7v133. boot time of win2k is 53 seconds including mcafee virusscan, icq, seti and winamp; without the utils about 30 secs....

Is it true that you can only read a CD as fast as it's been written?

the only thing is that multi-session cd's load a little slower than single-session...

Computer wont power up - Need help please

the a7v133 package reads : use a psu that provides at least 20A on the 5V and at least 10mA on the 5V VSB, so you should check your PSU to see if it qualifies.

Wireless home network. Best solution

sitecom isn't too expensive either. with less than 6 computers or so connected you don't have a need for a gateway, only the nics themselves..

sitecom is a lot cheaper and works fine if you have few computers connected. btw, if you have 6 or less computers connected you can do without the gateway...

help: LED light, power button, reset button leads

the power and reset leads can be connected either way; the leds only work if connected the right way. the white and black wires are always the - and the colored ones the +.

What is a good number of lifts in a weight lifting set?

to tone up do sets of 15-20 reps, to increase muscle volume/weight do 8-15 reps and to increase your strength do 3-8 reps; and of course you can combine them to increase muscle volume and strength as well. however make sure you have at least 48 hours or more rest between training the same...

Is it OK to fold IDE cables?

if you really want a clean layout of your computers internals get some rounded ide cables. might be a bit expensive though....

Memory count goes up in little "jumps"

maybe you should check you memory timings in the bios; if you've set them to aggressive this behaviour can occur. it will also happen while running windows, but you just notice as a little decrease in performance. best to set memory timings 'by spd'.

a7v133 vcore accurate?

well apparently the voltages weren't my only problem; i've returned the a7v133 and got a new one. finally my system runs like it should have. the prob was i couldn't install win2k without a couple of files having bad checksums; after switching all components i concluded i had a faulty mobo.

Is a re-install of the OS ALWAYS necessary w/ new MB/CPU?

best to reinstall, however you don't have to. in the latter case make sure you reinstall the default ms ide drivers before disconnecting the hard drive from your old config, otherwise you'll end up with a bsod if the new mobo has a different chipset.
