    thank you both! looks to me like i need to buy an Acer adapter. i finally got thru to acer support here...and they tell me the polarity is specific to acer laptops... so the hunt begins :P thanks for the EBay link. But i'm in india. and the shippin costs alone wud double the price :-) joshua.
