Would an 8 Pound Laptop Be Too Much to Lug Around?

why not weigh a couple of those glossyassed medical textbooks - figure out which one weighs 8 pounds and try carrying it around all day. That's what made me realize I was better off investing the money in the T40 I got - it's light and durable and easy to carry around.

refurbished laptops

I too hooked up a refurb IBM T-40 off the ibm.ca website. I did alot of research and talked to alot of people who have bought new notebooks, used notebooks, refurb notebooks etc. I read the warrantly carefully and made sure everything I needed was covered. The only thing I might have benefitted...

Using motor oil in cooling fans?

The more oil or grease you add, the more dust you'll attract. WD-40 is probably too light - you'd probably be best off with a drop of light machine oil. And only a drop! Those puppies hardly need anything and I don't know for sure but automotive lubricants may be too viscous - your fans will...

wtf is wrong with this T40 - no POST

maybe something to do with power? Is it the same just on battery and just connected to mains?

Anyone here use an IBM Refurb?

I shopped around for 2 months, comparing models, and finally got a refurb T40 from the ibm.ca website. It shipped in a week. After a month or so of use, everything is perfect - it seems brand new to me. When I phoned to request the restore cds, the woman there was going through my information...

Having trouble connecting my ibm t4o s-video out to tv

Maybe you've got it set so that there are two distinct displays, rather than have the tv mirror the laptop lcd. I can't remember exactly how to switch it up.

decisions decision... display vs battery life vs uh. . .

I forgot to mention that this is mostly to supplement the desktop I have now, which is sufficient and has a 19" 1600x1200 crt. I have a feeling that I will eventually migrate to using a laptop only. maybe. I don't know. That's why I'm here. . ..

I've been scrimping and saving and it's time for a laptop.... I've been trying to decide between two models on the IBM refurbished website: ThinkPad T30 2366-57F support (it's the french version, but I doubt that'll be any problem) P4-M 2.0GHz (512KB), 256MB RAM, 60.0GB HDD, 14.1...

I haven't seen it in person, but it does indeed look like a cheap piece of plastic. I can't find a single case I dig. . .

I'm checking my compubox case and everything inside it with my luggage on a flight... it'll be in a hard shell suitcase, and I can mark it for special handling, but I'm just wondering how I should prepare it. I'm particularly concerned about the HD and perhaps the heat sink shearing off and...

Fuji FinePix 2600 owners.. question (still..)

Yes and yes.. for both questions.. The filenames automatically accumulate, counting from the highest number on your smart media card. The 2600 has that exposure compensation thing that essentially changes the shutter speed.

hmmm... take a look for the Nimo Codec pack. It should have most codecs.
