HELP! SOS: Best Comp you can build under $1000?

Don't get nVidia based cards, they suck on image quality. Your sister don't need the fastest, just the image quality with some speed. So, definitely get ATi Radeon 7500, that one will have enough speed for everything she is doing, and will make things look better! Just my opinion, she is doing...

K6 & K6-II CPU'S

I had a K6-2 450 on a Soyo 5EMA+ v1.0 with 128MB of RAM, the OS was Win98SE. It was good for almost any task, running quickly, but it has some compatibility problems... Intel CPUs will be always better in the compatibility/stability department, maybe not in the speed one... I'm on a 750MHz...

Performance difference: Tbird 1400 (200) vs Tbird (266)????

AkumaX: But if I underclock it, maybe the performance will be on par with an Athlon 1400 (200)... :confused: Anyway :)

***Quiet that noisy overclocked system with Speedfan!!***

The fan control didn't work on my Asus A7V rev 1.02... Everyother stuff worked.

Performance difference: Tbird 1400 (200) vs Tbird (266)????

I do want to play 3D games, but it's not the most important... So, that way, the diference between 1.4 (200) x 1.4 (266) is small, am I right?

I'm using an A7V (not A7V133) rev 1.02, and it has only 100MHz (200MHz DDR) FSB, so, the most powerful CPU I can use on this mobo, is the Thunderbird 1400 (200MHz FSB). What I want to know, is the performance difference between Tbird 1400 (200MHz FSB) and Tbird 1400 (266MHz FSB)... Is it a big...

Yoshi: My monitor can do 1600x1200 at 75Hz, but this would be very hard to read texts... But 1280x1024 is great! 800x600 for movies? Hmmm, I think my rig can do more, just the old video card pushing back... bacillus: Yeah, my DVD drive is configured in DMA mode.
