T40 Hibernate Error

After owning my IBM T40 for 8 months, the hibernate mode seems to goof up. I press the hibernate button and it hibernates just fine, but then when i try and wake it from Hibernation, The screen looks like what you would see if you tried to play an old NES cartridge that needed to be dusted...

T41 theft alarm

IBM t41's have hard drive protection... They can feel when the laptop is being moved... is there any way you can "lock" a laptop so that when soeone moves it the small speakers go off w/ an alarm, or "Stop stealing me!" this would be nice for those of us who put our laptops in public places...

Need Advice on Basic Notebook for Wireless and Word, Excel...

i have an old dell latitude, battery holds charge for no more than 30 minutes.... it's a p3 500 mhz, 256 ram, i think 20 gig HDD, win 2k preloaded.... no wireless card, no floppy, no modem... it has a cd drive, the computer overall works perfectley for those tasks.... however, if left on for...

is the 15" powerbook worth the 200$ difference between it and 12"?

if u didn't know.... u pay a premium for SMALLER screens and smaller laptops.... so 200 seems very little because similarly speced laptops, the 12 inch will be smaller....

using 2 batteries in a t41

from what i understand it is bad to discharge a battery below 3%.... so how do u stop the second battery, in the ultrabay drive to save 3% and use the second battery (main one) to start drawing power? is there any way to arrange this because the ultrabay battery discharges to 0% any help would...

Cleaning the shiny areas on a IBM T41

these machines are awesome, i'm typing on one right now... i'm bumpin' this becaus i too am a new t41 owner, and like to know the best way to clean different parts of the lapto, like the magnesium panel behind the LCD, and the plastic palm rests, the rubber pointer stick, button.. etc... thanx

Any harm in plugging in the AC w/o the battery in?

more battery q's, i drain my battery to 3-10 percent, is that too low? shoudl i stop @ 11? i've been pretty religous about not recharging unless it is below 25%.... also, when i install a second battery, then i'd wanta drain both b4 recharing? or drain only 1?

slim battery and LCD for t40

how do u adjust the contrast for t41's, i can't see jack sitting in the sun.... also, the slim battery.... works pretty much the same way as standard battery? is there anything i need to know about it... any place to buy it for cheap? how do u clean u're LCD, it looks perfect indoors, but...

Hot? Loaded IBM Thinkpad T40 for $1999 - SXGA+, 1.6 P-M, 80gb, 512 ram, CDRW, etc.

wouldn't this be only good if u need the xtra HDD space? the ones at newegg for 1859 is a deal similar to this, only it has wireless, no tax, but it doesn't have 80 gig, only 40? and 256 ram, i think the deal on newegg is better.... 1859+100 for ram = 1959 total shipped to u're door, i jumped...

IBM and Trackpoint

i have a question about the trackpoint buttons, on a t41, how can i make the middle button the same as the left click, becasue i hit the middle button alot when i wana hit the left clikc, any help?

Best Laptop to get for my requirments.

wait on a good deal for a dell... ah man, i don't even remember the name of it 'cuz the t40/t41 is a million times better.... for 1k price tag < 5lbs the dell 600m is the only way to go, but u're gona hafta wait for a good deal..... other wise a $1500 t40 base model w/ 3 yr warranty would be...

What Laptop to Get

me, and most everyone at this site will tell u or u're friend to go w/ the t41, build quality hands down blows away the dell... only reason to get the dell is if u wana do some serious desktop work, but still need to be able to move from time to time... the 8600 isn't nearly as portable as the...

type of ram in thinkpads (t40/t41 and x40)

i wanted to know if the t40/t41 and x40 both use the same type of ram? i want to know if it is interchangeable. I plan on buying a t40 and an x40, one for myself and the other for a family member. I would order both w/ 256, and then i'd buy a stick of 512. This would make it so both laptops...
