How do I back up windows

I have a quick question on backing up files as well. I previously used karens replicator on my XP sys. The nice thing about that, was that it only backed up new files and didn't re-write existing files, already saved. On my new vista ultimate sys, I realize there is a built in backup program. Is...

I am bulding a new sys: Asus p5Q deluxe, E8500, 4gb ram, etc. I've built other systems with Xp, but I was curious if there was a certain order in which drivers and the OS are installed. For instance, once I power up the mobo for the 1st time, should I update the bios 1st, then install vista...

My current rig is in my sig. I am going to build the system listed below, but keep my current video card, DVD, case and power supply. Won't be using it much for games, but I ocassionally due some minor video editing. I will mildly overclock. I know the mobo is probably overkill for what I need...

Is my harddrive shot?

Reran memtest, testing one chip at a time and both chips had no errors. It's just weird. The puter threw a few more BSOD screens today. Just doesn't seem stable and I am at stock settings right now. It seem to work for awhile, then it either restarts itself or BSOD. I'm really thinking of...

Mem won't run at spec'd timings

I'm at 5-5-5-18 now, at 266fsb. I was able to bump that up to 300 w/out any trouble. But when I manually adjusted timing to 4-4-4-12, either at 266 or 300 I couldn't get the puter to boot. I manually set dram to DDR-800, but will try 667. I also did run memtest86 ealier today and got no errors...

I used to have it OC'd a little. i think around 3.1ghz. Yes, the mem in my sig is current. My fsb is at 266 with multi of 8, so at ~2.1ghz. I have 2 sticks of the mem in my sig, so 2gig total.

I have the memory listed in my sig and according to cpuz, my timings are 5-5-5-18 and I know the mem can run at 4-4-4-12. At least it is printed on the side of the chip with the voltage listed at 2.2V. The first prob is that I can't get the voltage in bios at 2.2V. Under manual settings, my only...

ok, I ran memtest and within 10 seconds or so, I got to Test #1 (highest error address) and it recored 1027 errors, while Test #2 (bits in error mask) seemed to be stuck in a loop, where it would start at zero and quickly run up to 32767 errors, then start over. It wouldn't seem to go any...

Well I thoght I had everything fixed and working, but I started getting lockups and all kinds of BSOD errors messages. Most recently error codes: 0x00000024 and 0x000000D1. The 1st I know is a potential HD problem ans the 2nd is a bad driver, I think USB. I am thinking the HD is really to blame...

XP SP 3 question.....quick reply really appreciated

ok, I installed sp3 last week and now I can't install security updates. It trys, but they fail. I read that sp3 should be installed under safe mode, after all other updates have been installed. is this correct? Should I uninstall sp3 and start over?
