Thanks. That certainly would fit the bill, but I'd need to go with the 3200+ and use the extra cash for RAM. The current machine is an 800, not an 1800 :) so the memory work work, I don't think.

Would a FM Transmitter or Cassette Adapter be better for an ipod?

Would this be a permanent install in the car? If so, then an in-line FM modulator would work. Normally used to hook up CD changers, it plugs between your deck and the antenna so the signal feeds directly into your deck and usually overrides any local stations on that freq. Plus, no batteries...

Just the audio interface. The $400 is just for CPU/mobo and memory. I've got a case and a DVD burner that I'll reuse. I'll get 2 harddrives at least, one for performance and one for bulk storage. The harddrive money isn't included in the $400. Oh, the monitor is one of those huge Sony 24"...

Can you just use your laptop screen as a printout ? or Could you copy from a notebook screen to a copier?

Go find a Hampton Inn or Courtyard hotel. Walk in like you belong there and find the business center. There will be a couple computers with internet access and a printer there. Or try the library....

What you need is a BDA (Bi-directional amplifier) that covers the freq range of your controller.

This is the sound of my head exploding........

OK, here's an idea. Downgrade the Raptor drive to something less expensive, one of the normal 7200PRM SATA drive, and put 4 GB ram in the system. Then use something like RAMDisk from Cenatek. Make 1GB system memory and a 3GB RAM drive. Locate the working directory of Sonar on the RAM drive...
