my Q6600 wont load into windows at 3.6GHz even w/ my bios set at 1.57v lol...

Hunting down a D0

the Xeon vs i7 thing is probably just like the old A64 vs Opteron thing was... the Xeons are probably the cream of the crop chips that tested out best and the ones that arent up to snuff are called i7's purely speculation but it would seem to be most cost effective for them...

Single card replacement for 9600GT SLI?

not to hijack but im in the same boat but with a Q6600 on a 780i and 9600GT KO's in SLi... currently oc'd to 2.8GHz because im lazy and dont want to fix the MCP heatsink. What nVidia card would replace them comparably?

thanks for the heads up on the 920/940 statement, i've been reading about how the processor does all of the memory controlling now so if its not pinned for each specific type of memory then it wont work and i didnt know that the 920/940 was like that, i would have been PISSSED when it didnt boot...

So, what is the "bees knees" for both the Phenom II and the Core i7 stuff right now? i havent seen any stuff about PII stuff but i keep seeing X58 for i7, specifically for the Classified series from eVGA, i fell into that trap with my 780i when it first came out... I'm a big fan of Gigabyte...

cant overclock with this board, MCP overheats and by the time you get an OC worth keeping you start getting errors, pour design on eVGA's part... so if i got with another Core2 product its staying stock clocks...

ok, i hadnt as much as looked at computer parts since i built my current system which at the time was pretty badass... now im doing photo editing with some "massive" files in Lightroom 2.1 64-bit and the Q6600 just isnt doing it... soooooo... after poking around for a day i see that the Phenom...

At 1680x1050 res, how much faster would you say is...

i have two 9600GT's in SLi and even when i forget to enable SLi it does decent with my system... but Crysis the still the only game ive noticed any noticeblly bad framerates in once SLi was enabled and everything cranked iwde open... Get the 9600GT's they run WAAAYYYYY quiet and the fans only...

Poor Q6600 OC's

my system starts crashing and all at 3.0GHz and ive got a 780i with a Q6600 G0 chip... bumped up the voltages a bit and all it did was get INSANELY hot... ive got the Nvidia/Zalman cooler giant 110mm beast and it was still showing 70* on core 0 and 1 but mid-low 60's on core 2 and 3

Worth upgrading?

anyone think its worth upgrading? ive seen the new GT200 stuff and the new 48x0 cards floating around now... ive really hit a wall cpu-wise for a reasonable amount of money by getting the Q6600.. i had it up at 3ghz but it really wasnt too stable and made a TON of heat even with the Zalman...
