Gaming on a budget => new cheap or secondhand

Going for 1440P with a GTX970. 144hz, G-sync, TN or IPS... Confused

@simas: If I might ask, how does the 970 perform with the 1440P resolution? Do you have to turn down a lot eye candy to maintain 60FPS? If you downscale to 1080P what's the look of it and how does the FPS goes?

I do play other games also. Most of them are racing games and a few action games a la Batman, Shadow of Mordor, Metal gear solid... Those games are more fps hungry and harder to feed. But they do run at fixed 60FPS or around 80fps. CSGO is somewhere around 300FPS. I wanted to go for a second...

Hi, I'm looking forward to buy me a 1440P screen. But: a lot is being said and written. -1. My card would be not powerful enough to maintain 60FPS on a 1440P resolution. -2. 144Hz is useless if you can't maintain 144FPS or more. -3. G-Sync is an overrated option. Especially with a 144hz...

ASUS Z170 Pro Gaming - Bios question

Hi, I have my Asus Z170 Pro gaming running with no problems whatsoever. This mobo and an I5 6600K @ 4.3Ghz perfectly stable and cool. But I'm still on the same BIOS as the one that was there on the day of purchase. Version 1102 I just notices that 1206 is the latest version released for this...

Asus Z170 Pro Gaming adding a PCI express sata card - performance

Late reply: It was only needed as raid controller for 2 backup hdd's. They work perfect now and I don't see any issues with my GPU.

2 hdds start to click since change from Ivy to Skylake

My bad of incorrect formulating my problem. But when I heard my daughter her laptop making the same "click" I knew it was the "parking" sound. Describing a sound or noise is kinda hard. And it didn't crossed my mind to make a video or soundrecording.

2 hdds start to click since change from Ivy to Skylake

Update: Contacted ASUS and Microsoft about this issue. It's a know problem and Windows related. Even if the harddrive is set to never go to sleep it 'will' go to sleep in seconds and park the head. And every time the drive is actuated, it will unpark the head which make the awkward clicking...

Well, it's definitely coming from the two harddrives. And only when I'm running Windows 10 and using the new motherboard. Running Windows 7 on it and the sound is completely gone. Just before I was going haywire, my daughter took her laptop and I heard exactly the same sound coming from her...

The rig is actually identically the same. I just unscrewed the motherboard and placed the new motherboard in. Plugged the PSU, SSD en DVD drive in and reinstalled windows 10 and the Z170 Software. So, the rig is not quiter as before. The drive worked both perfect until hooked up on the new...
