Asus P6X58-E WS or ASUS P6X58-E PRO

Title says it all, so take this for what its worth... Built a machine about a month ago using the P6X58-E WS motherboard. Looks solid, no real issues identified. Specifically, it correctly allowed the use of a 2.4GHz Xeon 5645 with 12GB of ECC DDR3 clocked at 1333. SSD and 4 other SATA3 HDD all...

X58 + ECC + SATA 6GBPS is impossible to find.

All the logical circuitry is in the ram and CPU, as far as I know with the X58 design. Just the same, those circuits need to be able to talk to one another, which I believe requires additional tracings built into the motherboard. I may be wrong (it happens all the time...), but for full ECC...

New Build comments please, for ASRock Extreme6

Putting together a workstation, wondering if people can comment on anything they know about this board, problems with it, or its compatibility with the parts I've listed... specifically, the ECC support. I've checked their site, and the "latest" QVL list for the memory is dated back to May...

Asus Rampage III Extreme release date here

Just watching the OC contest at Asus ROG and asked the big question. I was surprised, but Asusrog answered... This MB due for release April 14th... Now I just have to find a way to squeeze the thing (extra inch in size) into a P183 cheers, A

Any body overclocking an Opteron 185?

More case fans won't help much - except to make things noisy. Ambient temp IN the case is 25-28C under load. As for a faster fan for the ninja...it already moves 36.9 CFM... which is no slouch. ...looks like im on my own with this 20 degree increase...

chipset fan not spinning

See if a Zalman NB-47J heatsink will fit onto that board. If so, clip the old fan off it, clean the underlying chip, apply some NON-CONDUCTIVE thermal interface (such as Arctic Silver CERAMIQUE), and bolt the heatsink onto it. I did this mod intentionally on one of my 939 boards. If the NB47J...

Case cleanliness vs. Airflow

You might find that the filters make quite a difference, even if they are perfectly clean. I have some older posts somewhere in these forums, where I benchmarked my CPU temps with a variety of filters / doors in either open/removed/closed state. In my P180, just last wek, I cleaned the filter...

Best option for Socket 939?

Yup...overclocking that puppy will achieve most of the remaining potential from the "939 platform" If it doesn't overclock well, you might pick up an Opteron 165 for CHEAP, and try it instead.

Any body overclocking an Opteron 185?

Yeah, I had the same concerns with the Ninja (and briefly a Zalman 9500), in that no airflow is directed down onto the chipset. It really leaves the northbridge and surroundings running too hot... Of course, noone would dispute the efficiency of a properly-mounted Ninja either...at roughly 0.19...

Any body overclocking an Opteron 185?

Picked up an Opteron 185 a week or so ago... Installed nicely, replacing Opteron 170. It running now at 2.6 GHz (stock speed), with 1.35 volts. Curiously, it was unstable at 1.30 volts, usually within 2 minutes. The stepping is supposedly pretty good, being a CCB1E 0606VPMW - many of which...

Trying to decide on a new Processor - 4800+, 185, or FX-60?

Myocardia is most likely correct - an Opteron 185 will almost CERTAINLY hit 2.8 very easily, and there are lots of overclocks posted to support this fact... Starting with 2.6, the extra 200 is not even a 10% OC... Something probably attainable on stock voltage. Finally, the OP never mentioned...

What's the fastest you have driven your car, or a car?

Neat...except I have a hard time believing you. That car tops out at about that speed...and I have yet to meet someone on Anandtech who was crazy enough to lay down 1.1 million U$ for a CAR. A boat - maybe, but not a car....
