Same thing in IE and FFx? Hmm, What time is your system clock set to? Odd little thing, but it can really mess with how your comp stores cookies.

Dell: Exploding batteries are Sony's fault

The batteries are the fault of whichever company was responsible for quality control on the batteries. This would have been outlined in the contract between the two companies, and as such is unknowable to us. For the record, I don't buy either sony or dell products. Not liked either for years.

It's funny, I've been using linux for less than a year now, but it just seems that I like poking around and exploring the it's features much more than with windows. The only thing I miss about my windows install is the ability to try to break (and then fix) my machine the same way my friends...

Topic summary really says it all. I was helping a friend with their computer, trying to manually uninstall a piece of software (following the manufacturer's instructions) and received a permissions error. This was after booting into safe mode, which I thought was analagous to single-user mode...

Sin Taxes

I don't know how it is where you are, but up here in Canada, it is usually the conservative governments that raise the "sin" taxes. They did it under Mulroney, and they did it again recently under Harper. It's the only tax conservatives can raise without alienating their core constituencies.

Connected, but not connecting!

I'm pretty sure he was referring to software firewalls. Did you follow the link above referring to the winsock and tcp/ip? If you've uninstalled all 3rd party software firewalls and disabled the windows firewall, and he's still getting these symptoms in both browsers, check out the link posted...

ATI / Linux?

The major reason many distros don't ship proprietary software is not that it violates ati's EULA, but that it does not allow them to licence their distro under the GNU GPL. Not to get too off topic, I have ati's latest drivers installed and running fine under ubuntu, with a 9800 pro. This...

Richard Cohen-- Israel is a mistake

I sort of think he's right. Israel is a nation under attack from a group that hates its very existence. Every forceful action Israel takes causes more civilian casualties, and creates more popular support for the Hamas and Hezbollah. The situation over there may only leave two options...
