Same here. I'm very satisfied with the performance of the XPS Gen 4. For what I paid, it was the best deal I could find, better than building one myself.

Where to buy DVD's that burn well?

Don't see what the problem is. I've used HP, TDK, Memorex, Kypermedia and never had a coaster yet on two different burners, an older Pioneer 4X, and my current NEC. I just buy what is on sale.

Digital Camera: Zoom or Resolution - which is better?

Digital Zoom = ruined photos. Do not use digital zoom. All it does is enlarge the pixels and ruin the detail of the photo. Do any "zooming" via cropping in editing software. That said, the 4mp with 10x zoom will get you alot closer than the 6mp with 4x zoom and cropping. My camera is a Sony...

Mac Vs. PC

Bottom line with the Mac line is that they're overpriced by at least 25% based on performance. There are very few apps that a dual G5 (at any speed) can out perform even a single high end P4 or Athlon 64. When the dual core x86 chips go mainstream it will only get worse. I though for sure...

Alienware - Thinking of buying one, for gaming etc. opinions of Alienware?? + Spec Advice needed.

Is it strictly for gaming? Do you have to have SLI? If the answers are no, then check out the Dell XPS gen 4 or 5. The Gen 4 can be had for pretty cheap, just watch for the 25-34% discounts. The Gen 5 already had a 20% discount. No matter what most here say about Dells and Intel, it's still...

P4 (LGA775) Confusion

I believe that 5xxJ series are still 32bit with the anti-virus Xbit extensions/instructions and better power management features. I have a J series and am sure it is not 64bit, at least not enabled as susch.

Upgrading my CPU

Currently a 4400+ X2 at 2.2ghz will run current games the same as your 2.2ghz 3500+. Current games are not multi-threaded to take advantage of dual core or multiple processors. Unreal 3 is supposed to be multi threaded and can take advantage of dual core, as will many new games in the next year...

upgrade

Doom III is not worth the cost of an upgrade. The game is BORING. Upgrade for HL2 or Far Cry- definately worth it!

Move to Athlon 64 not right move.

I had the same experience going from a 3.4 P4HT to a 3500+. I didn't want to wait for dual core (the wait would've ended up being about a year from when I bought my system in Dec 04). So know I'm back with the P4HT and it's great.
