A new build

Ok, so I got rid of my old computer...which wasn't too old...for a new rig. And before I buy all the hardware, I wanted to know if all the components were compatible with each other. I've been talking to a guy from work, and he says some of the parts have a history of having compatibility...

Mp3s sound bad on my Zen Micro

Thanks guys. I decided to test things out. So I decided on three songs on my Mp3 player that had the most "clicks" in them, and I re-ripped those songs at 192kbps, with a new program I just downloaded called 'CDex'. Then I copied the three songs over and listened to them with the volume...

Mp3s sound bad on my Zen Micro

Ok, so I just got a Creative Zen Micro Mp3 player and once I transferred all my music to it, I noticed that almost all of my songs have clicks in them...it almost seems like the speakers are blown. I mainly hear it in the left channel, so I thought it might be my headphones, so I returned them...

AMD Files Antitrust Complaint Against Intel in U.S. Federal District Court

This just goes to show that the only way AMD can beat Intel is to go cry to a judge and try and get Intel in trouble. One more reason why I hate AMD.

Help me build an EXTREME machine!

I agree with Stevty...I just looked over all your parts, and wow...that was a lot of crap! First off, the only thing extreme about the Intel P4EE is the price...nothing more. The Ram is lousy...why not go with Corsair's XMS (eXtreme Memory Speed) RAM? It has flashy little LEDs on the top...

Well...since the price of this "EXTREME" computer is already going to hit $4000...why not take the plunge in to phase change cooling...since it is considered "EXTREME" cooling. While your still at it, take that crappy case to an auto shop and get a custom, "EXTREME", automotive quallity...

Just a Newb question

A legacy port is an "outdated" port...like your com serial and perallel ports (joystick and printer ports). Most of the stuff today uses USB 2.0 or Firewire. If you want to disable them...do so.

Poll: Does "the perfect rig" really need SLI?

This poll is just to see how many of us think that SLI is manditory in what *you* consider "the perfect rig". To me, a "perfect rig" is more like "The ultimate gamming pc of all time" and costs around $3000.00 to $4000.00. Soooo...have t it. :)

A stick of PC3500 RAM in a PC3200 slot?

Ok. So the new DDR 433 RAM my neighbor wants to sell me won't work in my mobo. Now two more questions...and then I'll be done. :) Sould I get Registered RAM or Unbuffered...and should it be ECC or non-ECC? What's the difference in performance between the choices of the 2?

When I said slot, I was referring to what the motherboard specs are. My motherboard is an Abit IC7-G mobo that says it rated to use DDR400 RAM. But if what Ike0069 says is true, then I should be able to run DDR433 or DDR500 and have kind of a "headroom" to overclock the RAM and FSB. Am I...

A stick of PC3500 RAM in a PC3200 slot?

So I heard that if you put a stick of DDR433 (PC3500) RAM in a slot meant for DDR400 (PC3200), it would overclock better, and be more stable than a stick of DDR400 RAM in a DDR400 slot. Would a stick of DDR433 or a stick of DDR500 even work in a slot meant for DDR400?

Using Two monitors with one computer...for different apps.

Ok, so I just aquired a fairly new 19" monitor for free. There are a few things I want to do with it. I have it hooked up to my laptop's secondary monitor output, and I was able to get my Nvidia go 5200 to clone it, so that I see an exact copy of everything that I'm doing. Now what I want to do...
