Thoughts on Lion now?

Overall, I don't see what the big issues are that everyone is having. I really like Lion. I think it works well, and can't really complain about much of anything. I love the new Mail design. I like Safari, and iCal doesn't bother me at all.

8gb memory upgrade for macbook(2008)?

I could be wrong, but I didn't think the '08 Macbook Pro's supported 8GB. I thought they topped out at 6GB and the '09 Unibody was the first to support 8GB. Found this from barefeats: http://www.barefeats.com/mbpp11.html They confirm that 8GB of RAM in the late '08 model has issues.

Parallels vs VMware Fusion

This. I was staunchly in favor of VMWare until Parallels 6. Now with Parallels 7 out, I feel like VMWare is too far behind in 3D performance to really catch up.

I've never seen this error before. Hackintoshing EP45-DS3LR

Looks like there's a hiccup with ACPI which is causing a kernel panic. Unfortunately that's as far as my knowledge goes. I would suggest using Tonymac's method. It has worked flawlessly for me with my Hack. http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2011/07/xmove-multibeast-install-os-x-107-lion.html

Zoom with mouse

In Photoshop, hold down Z, click and then move the mouse left or right. A general gesture that will work in all? You'll have to use something like BetterTouchTool as runawayprisoner said.

Lion Woes

This. One of the major downsides of new OS X releases. Also couple that with the fact that most software devs aren't always on the ball with their updates, so that can take a little while as well. I usually update right away, but I'm impatient, and just deal with the quirks.

App that gives "email" option on alt-click?

Yea, I know it's possible with Lion. Can't remember if this was in 10.6 as well though. Right click > Services > New Email with Attachment

Need help "unlinking" previous owner's iTunes account from iPod

This is like buying a used computer. Just restore it. That way there's no lingering data from the previous user.

True. Preview is the one app that annoys me regularly with the saved states. I'm willing to bet there will be a hack or a way to turn it off for certain apps at some point. Overall, I just think the OS is more polished. I don't know that there's much more I can ask for in an OS honestly.

Hmm.. I like it personally. Lots of little tweaks that make a difference IMO. Safari is a super step up. I love the little tweaks to the UI. Versions works quite well in the background. Saved state is awesome when you have a program crash on you. Overall, I think it's a lot of welcomed changes...

iPad game design

I feel like there are a ton of Puzzle games for both iPhone and iPad.. I'd like to see more in-depth tactical RPG's (a la Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy Tactics, etc...) I think the thing most missing from iPad games is depth. Most games just have a poor storyline (which is probably due to...

I would argue that this is exactly what Apple wanted to do. They knew there would be backlash, but they went ahead with it to push the platform out and get developers on to making plugins. It _could_ have been done differently, but it wasn't. Apple isn't one to release half baked products that...

Best way to migrate to SSD?

Carbon Copy Cloner has a way to selectively back up directories. That's how I moved to my SSD. I just picked the major directories that I needed (OS, Applications, Library, etc...) , then I symlinked my Home directories. Although that TUAW article seems like a better solution.
