i recommend the retail for anyone not overclocking... you dont have to worry about the heatsink or anything else... engineers have done all that for you
your problem is your generic memory... you should get some pc133 memory or unlock your processor with a pencil (connect the L1 bridges on the top of the processor with graphite #2)
i got my 1700+ to 1644.. 12x137... i unlocked it with the deffoger kit and it was friggin hard... i was very suprised that it worked... took me at least 2.5 hours and a whole lotta care
man im tired of all these people talking smack about the agp slot not working "design flaw carried over... i like to see myself type", people need to compare their own skill with the skill of the engineers that designed the motherboard... 99 out of 100 it is user error
i got the regular old crazy glue.... i unlocked my xp last night... it was such an ordeal, but it worked and im happy, i got the xp1700+ running at 1669 right now (12x139) 1.85v and it appears to be stable
when i installed xp on a kt7a-raid machine i had problems trying to use my own drivers... it worked fine without specifying additional blah blah blah... that was the hpt370 chip though, not the 372, i dont know about that one until tomorrow when i get mine in :)
to figure out what speed your memory is you can simply see how fast it overclocks...
2/5x10-9 = 400MHz DDR Hz is simply 1/seconds
i overclocked my inno3d ti200 to 520 MHz without any problems
that translates to about 3.8ns memory... definitely not five
