Can anyone comment on how this thing is for gaming? How about older games that don't support any kind of widescreen modes?
This seems like a pretty good deal. I mean, you could wait and wait for a better price but I'd rather be able to enjoy this thing sometime soon (talked the wife into...
Looking to upgrade my wife's AthlonXP 2100+ system and was wondering if anyone had suggestions on a solid, stable motherboard and RAM. Was thinking of going with a low end Athlon64 socket 754 setup. Not going to be overclocking or anything. Don't need a board with piles of features.
Thanks...
Having similar issues. Have tried various RAM timings in BIOS. I initially had problems getting the system stable until I maxxed the BIOS settings for vdimm to 2.8 which then allowed me to install Windows, leading me to believe it was still some sort of RAM issues (Mushkin pc3200 222 special)...
Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure what version of the BIOS I have, but like I mentioned previously I could hardly get the board to boot at the default "auto" voltage setting. I had to bump the voltage to 2.8 before the system was stable. I can't help but think this will become a problem down...
Just put together a new Asus A8V system w/ 3500+ CPU. Ran into some interesting problems.
First off, after putting everything together and proceeding to the grande finale of booting up, I kept getting 'BIOS checksum error' followed by request to reload the BIOS (a8v.rom file) from CD and then...
Newegg has these in stock in their refurb section. I'm putting together a new system and was eyeing up this processor but I've never purchased a refurb product from Newegg. Is this a CPU that someone maybe purchased but had the wrong motherboard for and returned?

Stopped at the BB in Pittsburgh (Robinson) and they had 2 of S/N 180339xx and one of 180336xx. Picked up one of the 180339's, got home and sure enough its a 9600 Pro.
2 left!
Thanks for the feedback :) Overclocking wasn't really a priority for me, although I have dabbled with the FSB speed and booted it at 2.2Ghz. Funny, I was never really concerned about temp in the past until I read alot of these boards and got curious. Now I'm on a mission to find out where the...
I recently put together a new P4 Northwood system; 2Ghz on an Asus P4T-E board and using the Intel retail HSF. My problem is, according to the temperatures most people are posting, my CPU seems to be running pretty hot. This is using the default settings; no overclocking or anything. In...
