Finally someone did a history on ATi!

I tend to agree that they hit the nail on the head with that one, accept 3dfx didn't buy S3, they bought STB. S3 merged with diamond.

Matrox Parhelia questions (any game with this card)?

clearly you've never used a matrox video card. The 2d quality of matrox cards is far superior to nvidia's 2d quality. If matrox ever got their 3d act together, I would pick one up in a heartbeat, unfortunately, they seem to be constantly way behind the curve.

WD SATA 10k Raptor on sale @ newegg $140 free shipping

10,000 rpm drives significantly outperform 7200 rpm drives. SATA is just like ATA w/ a smaller cable, a higher theoretical bandwidth that is unrealistic since it would be bottlenecked by the PCI bus, and a restriction of a single device per channel.

Free half chicken sandwich at Boston Market. Feb 6th

I got 2 of 'em, the trick is (for future reference) to go in and get one, then go through the drive-through (if there is one, if not you're out of luck), and ask for the free sandwiches. Worked for me and my 3 friends.

If you set up your mod with boot from drive F, you keep all your non-original files on drive F, and you lock your upgraded harddrive, then when you turn off the mod, you'll be safe, because the default bios is incapable of reading drive F, and the system will appear to be a stock system.

I think what they're saying, is that their 66 acre lot is the world's largest, but they have a trademark symbol after "world's largest", so it probably doesn't necessarily need to be true if they're using it as a brand name.

IDE is not even remotely comparable to SCSI. It's pricing is better, but it's performance is far inferior. When maxtor bought quantum, they took over their scsi division as well. They did rebadge a lot of quantum drives, as well as continuing to improve them. I agree completely about the 80...

The maxtor is still there: Quantum 73GB 10,000RPM 1.6" height 80pin $200 Quantum is owned by maxtor. The 80 pin connector is far from non-standard, but you will need an adapter, unless you have an SCA backplane like me. It does have a 1.6" height tho, which means it's quite a bit taller then...

That site belongs to the DVD+RW alliance. I wouldn't trust any info there that says +R/RW is better than -R/RW. They're just trying to sell their own format. So far, everything I've read suggests that the -R format beats the -RW in compatibility. It clearly beats it in price (not at B&M stores...
