Check out the Chenbro sr10769. Thats the case I would get if I was getting a case that could take an EEB or EATX mb.

I have to boot my computer twice to get to Windows. Why? (M.2 NVME SSD primary boot drive)

Check your cmos battery. Could be spent and your cmos is not holding settings.

Is there such a thing as a 'cheap' copy of Win 7?

Or you could just buy the windows 10 license for $30-ish and not even worry about an upgrade.

At $25-ish per activation I'm ok with that because I don't reinstall often enough to make it more expensive.

Given that 1080P is basically the minimum standard for desktops, why not laptops?

I will only use 1080p if the screen is 27" or larger. Any smaller and its too hard to read.

I heard kinguin.net sells win 7 licenses for $25-ish. I think they sell insurance for a nominal fee (~$1) to provide a working license in case the seller provides a used one.

I just installed win98se on one of my boxen. I had to go out and find an unofficial service pack to install directx 9 cause whatever directx was installed with 98se would cause a crash on my geforce fx5900xt if I changed the resolution to be greater than 800x600. Finding drivers and middleware...

Getting my first video card, need help choosing.

Bang for buck I would recommend a used radeon 7970. They seem to sell for ~$120. They will smoke a gtx 950 and even a r9 380 in most games. No free sync but you can't afford that in the budget leagues anyway. In addition, you can get windows XP drivers for them in case you need to go retro...

Oil the fans and keep using your current card. Save the money for a bigger upgrade later, say a gtx 970 or r9 280x

I like the ability to boot from a write-once only media because I know nothing could have changed the media since it was originally written.

So what you are saying is cpu is going to have a bigger effect than video card at 768p in Battlefield/Battlefront? What kind of difference did you see in frame rate between i3 3220 and i5 2550? Because an alternative $160 upgrade for me is to get a used i5 3570 but I thought I answered that...

BF3 actually. Good suggestion. What is afterburner? Does it replace Catalyst Control Center? Can I play multiplayer while having the on-screen display on? I'm kind of miffed that no one has done these kind of tests somewhere on the interwebs. All the review sites seem to test the same...
