i tend to agree that it's probably your motherboard reporting it incorrectly. seems to me if temps were to the point of being dangerous you'd see stability problems . my board reports load of 68c when running prime95 sfft. that scared me at first but since i never have any stability issues i've...
My 3500+ newcastle hit a wall @ 2.4ghz and no amount of vcore increase or bios tweaking would let it go further and maintain stability. That's why it's going in my in-laws computer and mine now has a venice.
OK I'm done testing with mine at least until Abit releases bios support. My board definitely has issues with the new memory controller. I get errors in Super PI even at default settings unless I run 2T command rate.

I've tried it with loose timings and mem dividers. Memory is not the issue in my case. I really think it's my cooling holding me back. As far as prime95 stability I hit a wall at 2.6ghz with 1.47 volts. To run 2.7ghz prime stable it's taking me 1.65 volts and heat is the limiting factor for me...
This seems to be my max prime stable with my setup. I do think with better cooling this chip could hit 2.9ghz. Oh well, bit better than my newcastle.
