Newbie question about E6600 multiplier

I tried it on an older 3.4GHz Prescott, no luck there. Thanks for the update; it must be a recent feature.

Newbie question about E6600 multiplier

I tried your suggestion (going to laptop) on my E6600 and you're right--that's pretty neat. This can't be specific to the E6600 though? I run CPU-Z too and can see it toggle up and down depending on the load. I run my PC at 300FSB but just about anything should work I'd say.

Patriot 5600+ at 7100+

I found out I could get it a little higher (833MHz) at 5-5-5-15 and 333FSB. (So, the CPU is at 3.0GHz.) However, once I do this, a reboot of the computer makes it power cycle for a few seconds before it comes back up. The crash while playing Quake was unrelated apparently, since I played for...

Patriot 5600+ at 7100+

In case anyone else was following this, I asked before what everyone though might be better (I did come up with my own answer): 4-4-4-12 @ 800MHz, 2.20V 5-5-5-12 @ 891MHz, 2.20V On Patriot 5600+ (700MHz) RAM... That seems like a good overclock for some older RAM. I'm happy. :) I...

Memory overclock Patriot PC2-5600+ to 7100

To summarize here quickly, I just made a system upgrade where I swapped out my mobo and processor. The RAM I bought a year and a half ago (Patriot PC2-5600+) is rated to 700MHz, at 4-3-3-12 timings, 2.2Vmax. I had run it in my older mobo at 4-3-3-10, 667MHz (5400), 1.9V for over a year...

I did an quick chat session with a Dell salesperson to ask the question "what is the warranty on this item"? And to my surprise... "Unfortunately, there is no warranty with this item." No warranty on a $600 video card. Does the Dell rep not know what they were talking about or is this...

8800GTX/S exhaust air or draw it in?

I couldn't tell from the picture which way the fins were sloped, or which way the fan rotated. My guess is that if the fan isn't polarity protected, a manufacturer could run the fan either direction but it's more efficient one direction vs. another. I currently have an X800XL which blows...

Why do you say that the 36 GB Raptors are a waste of money ribbon13? They are more $$$/GB, but if you're going for $$$/GB, you're better off with a 300GB SATA drive then. The 36GB drive has only one platter and 2 heads, instead of 2 platters and 4 heads. That doesn't mean the 36GB version...

Warm: 60GB Samsung 2.5" Notebook Hard Drive $100AR

Update: This deal is dead now, but CompUSA now has the 80GB Centon drive for $130 AR. Still a warm deal, but slightly better $/GB than the 60GB if you waited it out.

I don't see why not. Some of the older notebook drives are thicker than 9.5mm, but now that everything is 9.5mm you should be OK. The hardest part is getting your data from the old drive to the new drive (just get an external USB enclosure for it and you can still use it for other things.)...
