HD Fragmentaing

Have you tried turning off indexing? I did that and my HD stopped being fragmented every few days.

Plextor PX-712SA SATA and DFI|NF4 nF4 SLI-DR

I'm planing out my system around the DFI|NF4 LANPARTY nF4 SLI-DR motherboard and was wondering about this DVD burner from Plextor. It's a SATA burner, but it's gotten pretty good reviews and it seems to support a lot of different options, yet I've read about people having problems with is on...

Problem with Quicktime

Yes, reinstalled quicktime, still the same thing. But I've gone into my BIOS and switched everything to just "AUTO" for the chipset features and kept the FSB to 200. Now everything seems to work...which is weird. Also weird that this only effects QT.

Problem with Quicktime

It doesn't effect anything else but Quicktime video. AVI, MPEG and WMV movies work fine. Also, I have the latest BIOS flashed on my MB.

Problem with Quicktime

Why is this in the CPU forum, because the only thing changed on my system is an upgrade from a 2500+ Barton to a 3200+ Barton. But now, when I play a Quicktime movie, after a few moments the video goes out of sync with the sound. Seems that the sound keeps going in real time yet the video...

Upgraded from 2500+ to a 3200+ Barton

Thanks, this is what I figured. Main reason I upgraded is the great deal I got on a one-day sale at Newegg and this machine is going to be my wifes now that I'm building my monster rig. Mainly just to give her a little extra push so I don't have to totally upgrade this for a little while longer.

Upgraded from 2500+ to a 3200+ Barton

I put together a system about a year and a half ago. At the time, I put in a AMD XP 2500+ Barton. Just today I got a 3200+ Barton which I picked up for a pretty good price. Now, is there anything I really need to do to slap this puppy in other than just switch out the processors? Nothing...

Samsung SyncMaster 915N

I just picked up the 915n from Newegg and let me tell you...DVI or no...it rocks. Oh, and by the way n7, the 915n has the 700:1 contrast ratio also. the only thing it doesn't have is the DVI, but honestly, it doesn't matter. The NEC doesn't "pwn" the Samsung. And please, stop with the idiot...

Is SLI worth it for my situation?

I think people have let this thread get out of hand. My main question was is SLI...in people's experience WITH SLI...worth it if the resolution of the monitor is only 1280x1024. I've seen results and it seems that it kicks in more with higher resolutions with everything turned on. That's it...

Well, yes. This IS a major purchase so choosing wisely means not only doing the research like I have, but also asking other's opinions and their reasons. Living in a bubble helps no one. I'm not asking people to decide for me, just asking for their experience and opinions on the matter.

Is SLI worth it for my situation?

Yeah, I'm building this system a little at a time. Buying a piece here and there every week or so. The video card will be the last thing I buy so perhaps something new may come along before I even get it.

Is SLI worth it for my situation?

I can tell you when the next generation cards will be coming out...as soon as I buy a X850 or 6800 Ultra. The day after I buy it, it will obsolete. The new cards will be out and 4 times as fast at 1/2 the price I paid. Going from past experience here. :disgust: But I'm starting to rethink...

Is SLI worth it for my situation?

From what I've read, the MSI is the only one that offers SATA II at the moment...which is the HD I'll be using with NCQ. Does the LANPARTY nF4 SLI-DR support NCQ and SATA II also? I'm not looking to get two hard drives with a Raptor...it's just not worth it to me personally. But if the Maxtor...

I was wondering. I'm currently building a system and have settled on the MSI "K8N Neo4 Platinum SLI" NVIDIA nForce4 SLI motherboard. I am getting this board no matter what, even if I don't go with an SLI solution. Why? Because of all the other great features of this board that I can't find...
