MSI has always got away with close to maximum possible on the VRMs. Whatever they allow is usually clean but pushing limits that bum out pretty quickly.
Same since the Phenom.

I find what you're relating very strange... Broken sensors if that's true.
What you describe is not an engineering practise.
What do you idle and what are your ambients?

Not so. AMD posted the details a while back.
1700X/1800X have a +20 offset (Tctl) from real junction temp. -20C is the real temp.
You seem to be describing the chips heating per load instead.

I don't think anyone expected a very good power sensory feedback implementation. It's AMDs first/second proper attempt while Intel has perfected these since Nehalem. I did keep warning the unreasonable wishers that it's most likely a dumb implementation as the chip is being rushed to market with...
Idd is current and hotspots, yep.
Some of the sensors are placed around what AMD would seem critical junctions. If a hotspot occurs there, the chip will throttle for sure. 30C delta between a hotspot and another chip section is not uncommon.
Hotspots are primarily workload and structure...
Did you miss my questions? Post #38776573.
I agree on LPP/LPE, but I bet AMD can still eek out 200MHz more, especially in XFR. I also suspect they will get that 1800 with a smaller boost to 65W. This is what LPs are made for.
The port to another process would take more than a year and the...
It's not misleading when you have the graphs CLEARLY marked in percentage difference. Quit the over-sensitivity.
Edit: better word.

Pentium Pro->Pentium M happened ;)
The M mobile chips ran cooler and faster at 1GHz lower. Intel couldn't get anywhere near this performance scaling P4. The next challenge was process prowess to scale this mobile design in frequency.
Research and test vehicles do not necessarily account for...
@TheStilt .. Sorry if I've missed any of this. I can't stand Win 10, so don't like to use it except for a tablet.
Does parking a Core with Ryzen occur in logical pairs or one at a time?
What conditions have to be present in Win10 for the Core to be parked?
Are loads juggled about in Win 10...
I highly doubt 14nm LPP was what AMD wanted and it was definitely not suitable for HEDT. It looks like it was just what was available for HVM, and is heavily suitable for Mobile.

To be very honest, review quality en-masse -- for AMD related reasons -- has actually been very poor compared to what we have come to expect.
I'll give it a few more days before saying much.
I usually wait for ht4u's article, as for me, they are rarely matched on authenticity and thoroughness...
I guess I will write more later upon finding time...
Pure performance wise, AMD has done an amazing job in every respect. No one can sniff at that. It is AMDs Conroe, albeit only vs AMD themselves.
For anything Media/DAC/Encryption related, Ryzen is a sure bet. MT performance in a lot of...
