It's not extremely loud, but it lets out this kinda high-pitched "WHHOOOOOOOOO" that is pretty annoying. Most small, high output fans do this. I'm going with a Zalman on mine.
Really? I just set up my old Asus K7M/Athlon 700mhz combo with Windows Server 2000, and it doesn't have a keyboard connected and boots fine. Are newer boards requiring the keyboard be plugged in?
This little ah heck snuck past my msconfig bypass a few times, so now I have a permanent solution. It does not affect the functionality of QT as far as I've seen.
1. When the QT icon is in the taskbar, look at Task Manager and find qttask.exe. Kill it.
2. Search for qttask.exe in the...
Smart Fan 2s sound like a hair dryer when they're turned all the way up. However, they put out a ton of air.
Also, get guards. I think they'd take your fingers off.
So on the new MX500 and MX700 Logitechs, do you still have to map the extra buttons to keys for games, or do they show up as MOUSE4 and MOUSE5? Last Logitech I had was one of those blue Mouseman+ mice. Great mouse, but I didn't care for the drivers.

Oh, and I can't hear the fan at all. It's not loud.
I had that issue with HW2. Turned out I didn't have my motherboard drivers installed correctly and windows wasn't recognizing it as AGP. Maybe check that.
The Bios is defaulted at 100mhz front side bus. I got the same shock with my A7V133/1.133G TBird rig. Just go into the bios and set the FSB speed to 133. No jumpers needed.
As for the non-system disk error on the floppy, the only thing I could think is that it wasn't formatted as a system...
I recently put together a new TBird system (1.133g) with an Asus A7V133 mobo. The experience was 100 times more pleasant than putting together my Athlon 700/K7M system. In fact, I almost feel cheated because I didn't have to do much tweaking to get the new system running smooth and stable...
