how do I redirect X windows to a different machine through SSH?

You are running a local X server I take it ? Try Mocha X server if you don't have one - it's free :)

Problems with Windows Update

Download and install the standalone windows update agent. That will get you the latest version. Then, try again. Check proxy settings as well with "proxycfg". http://go.microsoft.com/FWLink/?LinkId=84399

internet wont work- but can ping ip addresses

Check browser proxy settings, and, from a cmd prompt, that of "proxycfg". Clear them (if applicable) with "proxycfg -d". Any dodgy browser helper objects loaded? PeerGuardian blocking HTTP ?

overclock disaster

Well, that worked a treat! Apparently when I went out to buy a sandwich and came back and ate it, that wasn't long enough for the board to discharge. First thing I tried was the CMOS jumper, but it didn't make a blind bit of difference. Went on the 360 for a couple hours, tried it after and...

overclock disaster

OK, this is my own fault: Got an A8N-Sli deluxe with 3800x2 (s939), 7800gtx and 7100gs in it. Used to run it from its stock 2ghz at 2.5ghz with no problems, but when the CMOS battery died and I replaced it, I never bothered taking it back up to 2.5ghz again and left it back at stock 2ghz...

Powering a small fan off of xbox360 USB ?

As per the title really, my 360 is in a cabinet which has the doors open when playing (naturally), but it can get a bit warm in there. It hasn't overheated (yet?), and I've created some ventilation slots in the back of the unit, but I thought a fan directly behind the box will help to extract...

Random Crashes

Download and run memtest86, let it run overnight to see if there's any bad memory about. Usually the best place to start when investigating random crashes. System specs would be useful, including the brand, make and wattage of the power supply. Extra juice needed for the gfx card perhaps ?

How to recover unbootable system.

Try using mhdd from www.hddguru.com, it might identify if the problem is truly mechanical or not. Failing that, there are some nice low-level format tools on that site as well..

A8N-SLI premium lockup problems

Funny - I googled that and this is where I ended up. I'm fed up of major heavy IO causing either some major stuttering, or a complete hang in XP64 (sometimes very occasionally in xp32 as well). Need to do some further research on this - anyone got any pointers ?

gfx corruption on an old game

Hi all I dusted off an old game called "Screamer 4x4" to give it a go. I'm on an A8N-SLI deluxe, 3800x2 and 7800gtx. 81.98 forceware. However, when I get into the game, I'm seeing lots of flashing blue objects where various textures should be and it's unplayable. Given the age of the game...

Asus K8N-E s754 - raid array is seen as seperate disks

I did. Just wondered if anyone knew the fix. Thanks anyway, works fine as-is. In fact, now I think of it, I'll actually be using the raid controller drivers rather than the IDE driver for all PATA disks, so it's no longer a problem.

Asus K8N-E socket 754, nForce 3 chipset. Latest BIOS. Made the RAID driver disk as per the enclosed CD, enabled the RAID controller for both primary IDE channels, created the RAID mirror and rebooted. OS now doesn't see the two disks at POST, but the RAID screen spots them and advises that...
