Yes, it was fairly disorganized in sjc.. I was there, and when playing some ut2k3 i thought i heard my number (or something close to it being called out), I wasn't sure so i didnt' rush up front or anything - I just asked around and got varying responses from people and proceeded to the winners...

anyone try these winxp memory tweaks?

yeah, I've had some install issues with certain programs after setting the value NTFSDisable8Dot3NameCreation=1... I got around it by moving the install files to a directory with a short name in the root of the drive.

Is it safe to leave a fan on a tnt2 unplugged?

I was helping a family with a home networking setup a few days ago, and one of the computers has a terrible problem... The fan on the tnt2 graphics card makes a horrendous noise... There is no way of removing/replacing the fan without actually ripping out the heatsink... This computer is just...

Is it just me or is 85hz not flicker free?

Is it just me or is 85hz not flicker free?

Everyone seems to say 85hz is flicker free and that the human eye can't tell the difference between it and a higher refresh rate? I seem to be able to.. I just switched from 1024x768 @120 hz to 1600x1200 @88hz and I can tell a big difference. I can even notice a difference between 100 and 120...

quake 3 refresh rates kinda low

AGKGA and AGOGA are just revision names of the chips... Agoga is a newer one, and sometimes the newer revisions will overclock better by quite a bit.

Got the $199 frys combo, but they only had 1800+ AGKGA's in stock... should I take it back for an AGOGA?

I don't plan on super cooling or whatever, I just want to overclock it a decent amount with air cooling, so future games like doom3 will be more playable...

XP 1800+ with EPoX 8KHA+ $199 at Fry's DEAL EXPIRED

I jumped on this deal at fremont fry's... I got 512 mushkin pc2100 for 149 too... Maybe I should have gotten the 109 dollar ram.. I thought it was some generic garbage so I didn't touch it. Also, I asked for an agoga or green packaged cpu but they only had an agkga in stock... I don't know...

argh, I'm getting errors all of a sudden.

Ah, I normally don't have show transmit on, but I turned it on to see if there was anything wrong... I was afraid that the temp files was a work unit I completed.

You mean 128MB, I hope, or else you're in big trouble. :). But seriously, are you running windows 9x? I've heard it's slower in seti than say windows xp or windows 2000... If that's the case, and you were to upgrade to 2000/xp, I'd up the ram to 256, as those operating systems run much more...
